Big West Athlete of the Week (Feb. 24, 2016)

SOPHOMORE (2016-17)
Finished the 2016-2017 season with a 17-11 singles record and an 8-8 doubles record with partner Danielle Pham...owned a 4-3 record in Big West play...17 wins tied for second most on the team...she went 12-8 from the No. 5 position...went on season-high five match win streak during fall match play, winning 13 of 10 sets during that span...Ended season winning four of six matches...Won a season-high three matches in a row from Apr. 9-Apr.19 in spring play....Teamed up with Danielle Pham for eight dual match wins during doubles play...Won a season-high five doubles matchs in a row from Jan. 28- Feb.11.

FRESHMAN (2015-16)
Completed her rookie campaign with a 10-11 dual singles record playing at No. 4 (0-4) and No. 5 (10-7) in the lineup…in Big West Conference action held a mark of 3-4 in singles play…partnered with fellow freshman Karla Portalatin as the pair went 9-7 in dual doubles play at No. 2 (8-7) and No. 3 (1-0) in the lineup…went 2-2 against Big West doubles competition…was named the Big West Athlete of the Week on Feb. 24 after helping Cal State Fullerton to a pair of wins as she went undefeated in both singles (2-0) and doubles action (2-0).  It was Makiba's 7-5, 6-4 victory over UC Davis’ Tiffany Pham that scored the fourth and match-deciding point for the Titans against the Aggies and she also outlasted Pacific's Sabrina Rodriguez, 7-6 (4), 6-4, helping fuel a 5-2 victory while winning both of her doubles matches with Portalatin…during the team’s program record eight-match win streak from Feb. 3-March 7 went 6-2 in singles action and 3-1 in doubles play…helped the Titans snap a 20-match losing streak to UC Irvine as Fullerton collected a 6-1 victory aided by her 7-5, 6-3 defeat of Mazy Watrous (04/02)…helped the Titans defeat San Diego State, 5-2, for the first time in 30 attempts as she and Portalatin scored a 6-3 victory over Kennedy Davis and Paola Diazde Regules at No. 2 doubles (01/23)… additional key victories included a 6-1 win over Wyoming that ended a six-match losing streak to the Cowgirls dating back to 2000 as she partnered with Portalatin to help the Titans sweep the doubles point with a 6-3 win over Dorottya Jonas and Miranda Talbert at No. 2 doubles (03/16).

HIGH SCHOOL
A 2015 graduate of Hilton Head Island High School in South Carolina…played for head coach Marcos Ondruska at Van Der Meer Tennis Academy for over two years.
