ANDERSON FAMILY FIELD

Fully remodeled prior to the 2001 campaign, the dual-diamond complex, made up of Anderson Family Field and the adjacent south auxiliary field, features two lighted and fenced softball fields. They are utilized to their capacity during Cal State Fullerton's two highly competitive spring tournaments: the DeMarini Invitational and the Judi Garman Classic - the latter widely regarded to be the nation's premier regular-season tournament and standing second only to the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City, Okla. Thanks to a generous gift from local families Jeff and Michelle and Dennis and Vicki Anderson, the main diamond at Cal State Fullerton was renamed Anderson Family Field during the 2006 season and stands as one of the top softball venues in the country.

After spending its first five seasons of existence at Lions Field located at Brea Blvd. and Lemon St., the Cal State Fullerton softball program moved into its new home on campus in 1985 where it has remained ever since.

With the addition of the baseball stadium and the 10,000-seat multi-purpose Titan Stadium in 1992, the softball complex also received a face lift.

Upgraded press facilities and expanded seating for up to 3,000 fans on portable bleachers were in the works as well as the addition of a message board to the already existing electronic scoreboard beyond the left field fence.

With the start of the 1995 season, the stadium underwent yet another facelift with the addition of concrete paving around both backstops for added fan comfort and safety as well as expanded batting cages and bullpens.

At the end of the 2000 season, the face of the complex was drastically changed as the main diamond was literally flipped on end to expand seating for nearby Goodwin Field and create more of a stadium atmosphere for softball competition.

The primary diamond features elevated grandstand seating with permanent box seats directly behind home plate. Chairback bleachers were added down both baselines to increase capacity at the main diamond to 1,000.

A permanent expanded two-tiered press box was added, complete with full Internet accessibility for media members.  Also completed was a beautifully landscaped grassy knoll behind the left-field fence that makes the area perfect for fans to enjoy the beautiful Southern California weather during day games.

The main field features two complete bullpens with room for two pitchers to warm up simultaneously and sunken dugouts for both teams.

The second field at the complex also underwent some changes of its own prior to the 2005 season as the entire surface was levelled to create a safer playing surface for competitors. Six-foot high chainlink fences were also erected in the outfield and down both the baselines, replacing the breakaway plastic fences, and create a more permanent feeling.

The secondary diamond matches the dimensions of the main field (190' down the lines, 220' to centerfield) with seating for up to 500 fans on chairback bleachers.

The main softball and baseball stadiums are joined by a structure between the two housing the Doubek VIP room and Wilson Clubhouse. Both programs also received expanded locker room facilities and offices for the coaching staffs.

In the spring of 2020, Cal State Fullerton Athletics is currently in the midst of a capital project that will benefit its student athletes.  Titan Athletics is upgrading its clubhouse facilities for baseball and softball so that they can continue to recruit top level student-athletes in these nationally competitive sports.  This project will be able to provide adequate locker room and shower space, rooms for meetings and video analysis, space for the players to get snacks, and most importantly, room for them to study.

The process started in November 2017 and is currently in the pre-construction phase.  The coaches have submitted their "wish lists" which will hopefully fit within the $10-12 million that is being set aside with fees collected from the Student Success Initiative.  An architect and a contractor have been selected and they are currently working together to create the blueprint for the project.  Construction is slated to begin following the conclusion of the 2020 season with completion scheduled for the 2021 season. Click here for more details.
