FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton improved their record to 17-4 (5-1) with a 4-1 win over Cal Poly 5-12 (1-5) on Saturday.
Doubles play started off with a win for each team, leaving the doubles point on the line.
On doubles court number one, Sarah Nuno and Karla Portalatin teamed up to dominate Abigail Bacharach/MacKenzie Worsnop 6-2.
On court number three, Genevieve Zeidan and Jadie Acidera suffered a 6-2 loss handed to them by the tandem of Molly Reed/Susanne Boyden.
The fate of the doubles point came down to court number two. Fullerton came out victorious when Masako Makiba and Danielle Pham took down Caroline Williams/Grace Olyphant 7-5.
The Titans moved into singles play with a point on the board, and momentum on their side.
Nuno took down Boyden 6-0, 6-3 on court number two to give the Titans the edge over the Mustangs.
Cal Poly answered back with a win on court number four where Luxizi Meng fell to Molly Reed 6-3, 6-1.
No.114 Genevieve Zeidan conquered court number one 6-4, 6-2 against Worsnop.
To put the game away, Portalatin clinched the victory on court number three with her 6-1, 7-6 win over Seriana Saltzen.
Fullerton looks to improve their Big West record on Sunday with their final home game against UC Santa Barbara at 11 a.m.
Sunday is also Senior Day where Isabel Donaldson and Danielle Pham will be honored.
