FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton men's golf team will participate in the 2016 Big West Conference Men's Golf Championship hosted by CSUN beginning on Monday at Wood Ranch Golf Club in Simi Valley, Calif.
THE COURSE: Nine teams with five golfers on each squad will compete for the team and individual titles on the par-70 course that measures 6,930 yards at Wood Ranch Golf Club in Simi Valley, Calif. Mark Cobey, Davis Holman, Jack Ireland, Mark Jensma, and Matt Wilson are scheduled to compete for the Titans.
WHAT'S ON THE LINE: The winning team advances to the NCAA Division I men's regionals which are held at six sites this year from May 16-18. This year's regional sites include Tuscaloosa, Ala., Tucson, Ariz., Kohler, Wis., Albuquerque, N.M., Stillwater, Okla., and Nashville, Tenn. The six-day NCAA Men's Golf Championship is scheduled for May 27-June 1 at Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore.

IN THE RANKINGS: Following the completion of the season's 10 tournaments, Cal State Fullerton is ranked No. 203 in the nation according to the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings. Rankings for the 2016 Big West Conference Men's Golf Championship: No. 77 UC Davis, No. 89 Cal Poly, No. 94 Long Beach State, No. 116 UC Santa Barbara, No. 160 UC Irvine, No. 172 UC Riverside, No. 186 Hawai'i, No. 206 CSUN.
AT THE BIG WEST CHAMPIONSHIP:
• The Cal State Fullerton men's golf team has won two Big West Conference Men's Golf Championship titles, in 2013 and 2014, after the Titan program was reinstated for the 2009-10 season. In 2013, the Titans were co-Big West Champions with Pacific playing at Soboba Springs Country Club in San Jacinto, Calif., but Fullerton lost the automatic NCAA Regional bid in a playoff. In 2014, the Titans finished two strokes ahead of UC Davis at Soboba Springs Country Club to win their second conference title and first regional bid.
• Corey Gard finished the 2013 Big West Championship tied for first place as Fullerton's top finisher in program history at the tournament.
• Fullerton previously played at Wood Ranch Golf Club this season, finishing 10th at the Bill Cullum Invitational on Oct. 20, 2015.
LAST TIME OUT ON THE LINKS: Mark Cobey climbed 10 spots to fifth in the standings, while the Cal State Fullerton men' golf team fired its best round of the tournament to finish sixth at the OGIO UCSB Intercollegiate at Sandpiper Golf Club on April 12.
The Titans fired a third-round score of 291, to conclude the tournament at 20-over-par 884, good for sixth place. Big West foe Cal Poly also shot a 291 for the third round, and the Mustangs were able to hang on to their lead, finishing the tournament at 2-under-par 862 to claim the 2016 OGIO UCSB Intercollegiate title.

2015-16 TAP-INS
• Mark Cobey's third-round score of 68 at the OGIO USCB Intercollegiate on April 12 matched a career best, while his fifth-place finish and three-round score of 214 also marked career bests for the native of Woodland, Calif.
• Cal State Fullerton's third-place finish at the Sacramento State Invitational was its best of the spring and its best since a third place mark at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate on Sept. 29, 2015.
• Matt Wilson completed the 20th Del Walker Intercollegiate with a three-round score of 207 (-3), tying for second in the standings. For the rookie, it was his best three-round score and best finish in his Titan career. Wilson's second-place finish was the best for a Titan this year and the best since Mark Anguiano finished in a tie for second place at the 2014 Big West Championship.
• Jack Ireland posted a third-round score of 5-under-par 65 at the 20th Del Walker Intercollegiate. For Ireland, his third-round score was his best round of golf as a Titan, and is the lowest score for any CSF player this year. Ireland's round of 65 is only the sixth in Titan history and the first since Mark Anguiano did so in the first round at the El Macero Classic on April 18, 2014.
• Matt Murphy recorded the best finish of his career shooting at 2-over-par 218, good for third place at the Folino Invitational on Feb. 16. Murphy's third-place finish, competing as an individual, was the best for a CSF player at the Folino Invitational since Mark Anguiano won the event in 2014.
• Junior Martin Manalo carded the best finish of his Titan career, tying for 12th overall with a final score of 222 (+6) at the Folino Invitational on Feb. 16.
• Fullerton's final score of 843 from the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate on Sept. 29 ranks third all-time at Cal State Fullerton for the program's 54-hole team score.
• Redshirt senior Mark Jensma was the top Titan finisher, as his total score of 209 (-4) tied for ninth at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate. For Jensma, the ninth place finish was the best in his Titan career and the second time he has finished in the top-10. In addition, his second round score of 68 and his total score 209 set career bests.
