Four Seniors Play Final Titan Gym Game Sunday

Four Seniors Play Final Titan Gym Game Sunday

March 4, 2006

Fullerton, Calif. - Four seniors will make their final Titan Gym appearances Sunday afternoon when Cal State Fullerton wraps up the men's baskeball regular season with a non-conference game against South Dakota State.

Forward Jamaal Brown and guards Jermaine Harper, John Clemmons and Vershan Cottrell will be saluted prior to the game which is the second half of an in-season home-and-home series with the Jackrabbits, who are in the second year of Div. I status. All four Titans played two seasons in the Navy and Orange -- Brown transferring from Western Kentucky, Harper from Virginia, Clemmons from El Camino College and Cottrell from Ohlone College. They have been integral parts of the most successful two-season record for Titan basketball in more than 20 years.

Fullerton won in Brookings, South Dakota, 82-70, back on Nov. 28. The rematch originally was scheduled for Fullerton in early January but when the Big West Conference changed its schedule by removing games from the last week of December and compressing them into the first week of January, the March 5 date was arranged. The game was not scheduled for Saturday because South Dakota State was locked into a Friday night game at San Diego State where it lost, 88-63. Sunday's game will conclude the season for the Jacks, who are 9-19.

Fullerton will open the Big West Conference Tournament at the Anaheim Convention Center on Wednesday night as the No. 5 or No. 6 seed and play at either 6 p.m. or 8:30 p.m. against either Cal State Northridge or UC Riverside pending the outcome of Saturday night's UC Santa Barbara at Cal State Northridge game. If CSUN wins, the Titans play UCR at 6. If UCSB wins, the Titans play Northridge at 8:30.
