FULLERTON CLASSIC PRESENTED BY THE 
HOLIDAY INN OF LA MIRADA
Cal State Fullerton will host the Fullerton Classic Presented by the Holiday Inn of La Mirada on Friday and Saturday as a total of nine matches will be played at Titan Gym. Fullerton welcomes Kent State, William & Mary, Gardner Webb and Wake Forest to Orange County.

TICKETS
Cal State Fullerton returns to Titan Gym, Friday, while hosting the Fullerton Classic presented by the Holiday Inn of La Mirada. Tickets can be purchased online at www.FullertonTitans.com, over the phone, or at the Cal State Fullerton Athletics Ticket Office, which is located in the Titan House on campus off of Gymnasium Drive on the northeast side of Titan Gym. Game day sales and will call tickets will open an hour prior to the scheduled time at the specific venue.

FULLERTON CLASSIC: AN INSIDE LOOK

Kent State finished its opening weekend with a record of 1-2, sandwiching a sweep of Robert Morris between losses to Rutgers in three sets and Indiana in four sets. The Golden Flashes are led by Kelly Hutchinson's 2.40 kills per set.

William & Mary will hit the road for the first time in 2013 when the Tribe visits Cal State Fullerton. William & Mary (1-2) opened the year with a four-set victory over San Jose State before dropping back-to-back matches to Campbell and Northern Arizona. Dessi Koleva leads the Tribe with 3.20 kills per set.

Gardner-Webb (1-3) is on the road for the second straight weekend. Last week the Bulldogs lost three matches, and were swept twice, at the Belmont Invitational. On Tuesday, the Bulldogs swept Montreat College. Erin Anderson leads Gardner-Webb averaging 2.79 kills per set. 

First-year Wake Forest head coach Ken Murczek has the Demon Deacons off to an undefeated start of 3-0. Last week, Wake Forest hosted the Deacon Invitational and  swept East Carolina and the UNC-Greensboro as well as a four-set victory over East Tennessee State. The Deacons were tourney champs as Kristin Grissom was named tournament MVP after averaging 3.30 kills per game and hitting at a clip of .359.

RECAPPING THE UNLV INVITATIONAL
• On opening night, Fullerton's offense sputtered in a three-set loss at UNLV last Friday as senior Bre Moreland led the Titans with eight kills. The team was held to an attacking percentage of .130.
• The Titans suffered an excruciating five-set loss to Kansas State on Saturday after battling back from a 2-0 deficit. Julie Consani matched a career best with 54 assists, while Alyse Hensley (18 kills, 21 digs) and Moreland (12 kills, 15 digs) recorded double-doubles. Rookie libero McKenna Painton found her way to 30 digs.
• The Titans recorded their first victory of the season with a sweep of Portland on Friday evening. Fullerton hit at a clip of .216 and was led by freshman Mallory Waggoner's 15 kills.
• A total of eight newcomers were called into duty last weekend; senior transfer Leah Stevens, freshman Shannon Bell, freshman McKenna Painton, junior transfer Kristen Brandsma, freshman Paige Reed, freshman Mallory Waggoner, senior transfer Alyse Hensley and freshman Faith Rockmore.

NOTES FROM OPENING WEEKEND
The Titans dropped their season opener for the third year in a row, and hold a 6-6 record in season openers during head coach Carolyn Zimmerman's tenure (2002-present)…the Titans are 18-16 in season openers dating back to 1980...Julie Consani matched a career high with 54 assists in Fullerton's five-set loss to Kansas State...after the Titans' 3-0 sweep of Portland, Cal State Fullerton swept its first opponent since a 3-0 victory over Brown on Sept. 14, 2012 at Titan Gym...Fullerton also swept its first opponent away from home since a 3-0 victory over Charleston Southern on Aug. 25, 2012 at the Georgia Tech Courtyard Invitational.

STAT LINE
After three matches, senior transfer Alyse Hensley leads the Titans with 3.00 kills per set, an average that ties for eighth in the Big West...Julie Consani's 10.36 assists per game rank fourth among competitors in the league...freshman  libero McKenna Painton finished last weekend with four service aces in three matches, and her average of 4.55 digs per set ranks second in the Big West...Painton's 30 digs in Fullerton's five-set loss to Kansas State currently rates as a match high in the Big West...Fullerton's offense struggled, hitting at a clip of .126 last weekend, but defensively the Titans also held their own, holding opponents to a .139 clip. Fullerton also leads the Big West averaging 17.55 digs per set.

2013 BIG WEST PRESEASON POLL
For the second straight year, the University of Hawai'i has been selected as the Big West Conference's top pick in the women's volleyball preseason poll, as selected by the nine league coaches. The Rainbow Wahine were a unanimous favorite, collecting all nine first-place votes en route to an 81-point total. Cal State Fullerton finished in seventh place with 35 points.

CAROLYN ZIMMERMAN
Entering her 12th season at Cal State Fullerton, Carolyn Zimmerman possesses an all-time record of 163-171 (.488). The sixth head coach in Fullerton's 37-year history, Zimmerman is the winningst (.488) head coach in CSF volleyball program history.

WHO IS BACK
Cal State Fullerton welcomes back four returning starters, seniors Leah Beast and Bre Moreland and sophomores Julie Consani and Holland Crenshaw. Moreland, a 2012 Big West honorable mention pick, spent her summer training with the USA U23 Beach National Team.
