Titans Head to Oregon for Rose City Collegiate

AURORA, Ore. – A week after finishing second at the WSU Cougar Cup and securing an individual title, Cal State Fullerton treks back to the Pacific Northwest this week to participate In the Rose City Collegiate hosted by Portland State at the Langdon Farms Golf Club in Aurora, Ore.

THE COURSE: The Langdon Farms Golf Club hosts the Rose City Collegiate for the seventh straight year. It will play at 6,057 yards, Par-72. The tournament gets underway on Monday morning with the field set to play 36 holes with a shotgun start set for 8 a.m. The field will finish off the final 18 holes Tuesday with another shotgun start at set for 8 a.m. from holes 1 and 10.

THE FIELD: This year's field will feature 15 teams and 87 individuals. Joining the Titans and host Vikings will be: Seattle, Sacramento State, Eastern Washington, Northern Arizona, Weber State, Northern Colorado, Texas Rio Grande Valley, Boise State, Montana, UC Riverside, Concordia, Southern Utah, and Oregon State.

IN THE POLLS: After an excellent showing in its first tournament of the 2016-17 season, Cal State Fullerton is currently ranked No. 33 in GolfWeek's NCAA rankings, released on Sept. 23. Following her victory at the WSU Cougar Cup, senior Martina Edberg is also ranked No. 16 in the nation in Golfweek's individual rankings this week.

SMELLING THE ROSES: In the six-year history of the Rose City Collegiate, Cal State Fullerton has participated four times. The only exceptions were the inaugural tournament in 2010 and last year. The Titans have never finished lower than fifth as a team at the Rose City Collegiate, winning the team title in 2012 and 2014.

OWNING THE RIDGE: Senior Martina Edberg logged her fifth career victory last week at the WSU Cougar Cup held at Palouse Ridge Golf Club, setting a new Cal State Fullerton record as she recorded a 10-under 206. The 206 eclipsed Edberg's own school record of 211 for the best 54-hole tournament score. She also set a new round three record at the WSU Cougar Cup, carding a 6-under 66 in the third round on Tuesday. It was also the second best single-round score in school history, missing her own record of 65 by one stroke; a record she also set at the Cougar Cup in the second round last year.

FARRELL'S TOP-10: Junior Brittany Farrell logged her second career top-10 finish at the WSU Cougar Cup. The Mission Viejo-native finished with a 1-over 217, a new personal best for a 54-hole tournament. She tied her career best single-round score, logging consecutive rounds of 72 in round two and three.

THE FRENCH CONNECTION: Sophomore Pauline Welker was another Titans golfer that excelled at the WSU Cougar Cup last week. The Domevre-en-Haye, France native shot an even-par 72 in the third round, setting a new personal best. The round put her at 221 for the tournament, 5-over and tied for 12th place to log her first career top-20 finish.

CHIP SHOTS:

- Daniella Uy made her Cal State Fullerton debut last week, shooting a 13-over 229 to finish in a tie for 31st place.
- Freshman Elsa Lundquist logged a 19-over 235 in her first career collegiate tournament and finished tied for 46th place.
- Brittney Sok competed as an individual at the WSU Cougar cup and finished in 58th place, posting a 247.
- The Rose City Collegiate will have 12 golfers competing as individuals including two from Cal State Fullerton.
