Fullerton, Calif. - Charlee Underwood scored 24 points and Andrea Adams had 18 Saturday afternoon to lead Cal State Fullerton to an 86-79 Big West Conference women's basketball victory over Cal State Northridge.
The win evened the Titans' record at 12-12 and left them with a 6-4 Big West mark. The Matadors got 21 points fro Krisztina Fuleki and 16 points and 11 rebounds from LaJoyce King but fell to 11-13 and 7-4.
Adams and Underwood were part of a 10-0 Fulleton spurt to open the second half that put the Titans ahead to stay after trailing by one at intermission. Underwood's 3-pointer capped the run that included a deuce and a trey by Adams, who padded her total by hitting 9 of 12 free throws, mostly in the final minute.
Toni Thomas (12 points and 12 rebounds) joined Underwood (10 rebounds) with a double-double.
Fullerton led by as many as 15 points at 68-53 with 5:39 left before the Matadors got as close as 5 points with four seconds left.
Northridge, which played its second game in a row without injured (ankle) leading scorer Ofa Tulikihihifo, led by as many as 8 points in the first half, the last time at 20-12 with 10:31 remaining.
Fullerton's win total is its most since the 1994-95 team went 14-15.
The Titans close out the Big West schedule with four road games beginning Thursday night at UC Irvine.
