Duerr, Titans Finish Fourth at Palouse Ridge

Ryan Tetrault Pullman, Wash. - Titan Dakota Duerr and the Cal State Fullerton men's golf team both finished fourth overall at the 11-team Itani Homes Collegiate tournament hosted by Wahington State at the Palouse Ridge Golf Club after the final 18 holes played out Tuesday afternoon.

The Titans finished 38 over par, 27 stokes off the winning Washington State squad which shot the best third-round team score (-10) in tournament history. The Cougars also had three players shoot below 70 in the final round of the 72-par course.

The Cougars' Hank Frame was the individual champion, shooting a 4-under 217 (76, 69, 68) at the Collegiate. He was the only player to finish below par.

Duerr moved up another two spots, going from 11th to 6th after two go-rounds on Monday and 6th to 4th over in the final round on Tuesday. He shot a 71 (-1) to finish the 54 hole-tournament 4 over par (76-73-71). He had four birdies – three through his first nine holes – and three bogeys on the scorecard, and started on the back nine for the second consecutive day.  Duerr tied with San Jose State's Justin Estrada who shot a 4-under 68 in his final round.

Ryan Tetrault (78, 76, 74)  finished 12-over par (228) and tied for 19th with five others in the 69-man tourney. He too enjoyed his best day on the course Tuesday shooting a 2-over 74. Cory Gard (83, 74, 72 - 229, t-24th), Mark Anguiano (88, 77, 69 - 234, t-46th) and Michael Choe (79, 83, 87, 249, 66th) completed the rest of the Titan scoring. Angiuano shot a team-best 69 (-3) in the final round.

Fullerton's next action will be Oct. 8-9 at the Firestone Grill Cal Poly Invitational at Monarch Dunes in Nipomo, Calif.
