Pullman, Wash. - The Cal State Fullerton men's golf team is 40-over par with a score of 616 (one point behind Boise State) and is sitting in seventh place after 36 holes Monday at the 2012 Itani Homes Collegiate tournament at Palouse Ridge Golf Club hosted by Washington State University.

The Cougars hold a three-stroke team lead in their own 11-team tournament after posting a 21-over, 597 in the first and second rounds of the three-round event. Arizona (+24, 600) and San Jose State (+33, 609) round out the top three in team scoring on the 72-par course.

Fullerton improved greatly between the first and second rounds. The Titans were in 9th place over the first 18 holes. Then put up a third-place effort over the second 18.

Washington State's Ken Hagan followed his even-par first round with a 71 in round two and heads into Tuesday's final round tied for first place at 1-under par with Arizona's Dylan Healey. The junior Hagan is playing as an individual not as a part of the team scoring.

Fullerton's Dakota Duerr, fresh off US Amateur play last month in Colorado, is having a strong showing in Pullman. He was tied for 11th place after his first 18 holes, but picked up five spots in his second round and finds himself in 6th place among the 69 golfers. He shot a 4-over, 76, in round one and 1-over, 73, in his second go-round. He had five birdies, eight bogeys and one double bogey on the day.

Ryan Tetrault, also coming off US Amateur action, is 10 over after his first day of work and is tied for 19th after shooting 78 (+6) and 76 (+4). Cory Guard (83, 74, 157, +13, T34th), Michael Choe (79, 83, 162, +18, T52nd) and Mark Anguiano, 88, 77, 165, +21, T57th) round out the Titan team members competing in Pullman. Guard had the biggest improvement from rounds one to two, picking up 11 strokes. Anguiano improved 9.
