San Luis Obispo, Calif. - Derek Stockalper scored 17 points and grabbed 8 rebounds Saturday afternoon to lead Cal Poly to a 76-72 Big West Conference victory. The Mustangs clinched at least fourth place a first-round tournament bye with the win that lifted their overall record to 8-16 and 7-5 in the Big West.

Frank Robinson scored Fullerton's first 14 points and ended up with a team-high 18 as the Titans fell to 13-12 and 5-9.

Cal Poly pulled away from a 39-37 halftime lead to lead by 11 points at 62-51. But the Titans rallied behind Justin Burns and Jamaal Brown to pull ahead and set the stage for a 68-68 tie with 4 minutes to play. From there, Titus Shelton made a power layup and Cal Poly pulled away to a 74-68 advantage and made enough free throws to hold off Fullerton and complete a season sweep of the Titans.

Robinson made his first four 3-point tries but missed his final four. The Titans were 8 of 14 from behind the 3-point line in the first half but only 1 of 8 in the second half.

"We fought back and I was proud of our effort for that," said CSF Head Coach Bob Burton. "Cal Poly had a good game plan and executed it well in the second half, shortening the game and making us chase them for 40 minutes.

"We just didn't make the shots we needed to make down the stretch."

Jamaal ended up with another double-double with 11 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Burns got all 9 of his points in the second half. Bobby Brown scored only 8 points on 2 of 10 shooting and committed seven turnovers to match his season high.

Fullerton plays two non-conference games at home next week, hosting UC Davis on Thursday night and South Dakota State on Sunday afternoon.
