A Look Back at the Penn Relays

The Titans sent six athletes to compete in the 120th annual Penn Relays last weekend in Philadelphia. Fullerton raced in front of over 100,000 fans over the course of the meet in cold and windy conditions.

On Thursday, the 4x100m relay team of Destinee Brown, Katie Wilson, Alexandria Stewart, and Ashley Sims qualified for the college section finals with a time of 46.08, while placing 15th. The next day in the finals, the team failed to finish the race after a baton-passing mistake.

Brown also competed in the women's 100-meter dash and placed 10th overall, but fell just short of qualifying as she squared off against top schools such as Auburn, Texas Tech, and Texas A&M. The Titans also were represented in the 4x400m relay (Janaya Shorty, Deena Pierce, Sims, and Wilson) finished with a time of 3:48.76.

Last Season's Steve Scott Invitational

At the 2013 Steve Scott Invitational, the Cal State Fullerton track and field team boasted a solid outing, as Katie Bathgate and Jeff Little each collected wins in the 3000-meter steeplechase.

Little finished with a time of 9:39.30, while Bathgate had a mark of 11:17.26. The Fullerton men tallied up 167 points to win the meet, while the women collected 80 points to place fifth.

In the 200-meter dash Ashley Sims ran a season-best 24.07 to place fourth and Katie Wilson finished fourth in the 400-meter with a time of 54.84.

In the field, Walter Whitaker (6.93m) and Sean Foelich (6.84m) highlighted things as they each recorded season-bests in the long jump.
