FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton indoor track and field team heads to the University of Washington to take part in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Indoor Track and Field Championships for the third-straight year beginning this Friday, Feb. 26 and finishing on Saturday, Feb. 27.
The Titans will be sending 21 student-athletes to participate in 16 events. Fullerton completes the 19-team field that is comprised of members of the Big West, Pac-12 and West Coast Conferences.
Junior Janaya Shorty will return to the track after annihilating the school record in the 200m dash at the Don Kirby Invitational with her time of 23.50. Joining her in the 200m dash is the Stewart sister duo of Alexandria and Alexis, along with Kieana Butler, Anastasia Chiodo and Ty'Jalayah Robertson.
The distance runners return after a strong showing at the UW Invitational, featuring Sierra Ungerman who set a new school record in the one-mile run with her time of 5:05.24. Ungerman also was a part of the distance medley team that shattered the school record at the UW Invitational, running a total time of 12:16.73. She will be competing in the 4,000m distance medley relay along with her teammates Morgan Love, Stephanie Cortez and Emily Taylor.
Five student-athletes will compete in the jumps as Robertson will compete in both the high jump and the triple jump, while Onyx Gaston and Laura Hamann will compete in both the long jump and the triple jump.
Alysee McMillen will also return to be the Titans' lone competitor in the pole vault after qualifying at the UW Invitational.
Rounding out the group are Brionna Thompson and Jessica Flores who will be competing in the shot put, while Flores also competes in the weight throw.
Ifunanya Gwacham will also take her hack at the pentathlon after scoring 2, 721 points at the UW Invitational.
