Titans Re-Write Record Book at MPSF Championships

SEATTLE, Wash. – The women's indoor track and field team saw two more school records fall as they closed out the indoor season at the 2016 MPSF Championships at the University of Washington on Saturday afternoon.

After breaking the school record for the distance medley relay on Friday, previous school records in the one-mile and the 4x400 relay were broken in the final day of the MPSF Championships.

"Overall it was a positive meet for us, re-writing the record book in four events and just missing in a couple of other events," explained head coach John Elders. "We have a young and talented group and they've learned a lot during this indoor season.

DISTANCE

Sierra Ungerman went the distance once again for the Titans, breaking her own record in the one-mile run that she set earlier in the season at the UW Invitational. She broke her own time of 5:05.24 by running a 5:02.83 on Saturday, good for a 28th place finish overall.

Emily Taylor gave a strong showing for the Titans in the 3000 meter run, finishing with a time of 10:02.40, the second fastest time in school history.

SPRINTS

The Titans saw another school record fall as the quartet of India Owens, Morgan Love, Zuri Henderson and Tyler Hardge bested the previous record by almost two whole seconds, posting a time of 3:47.95. The quartet was led by Love who recorded the fastest split with 53.6 seconds.

"We're looking forward to taking it to the next level this outdoor season," said Elders.

The outdoor track and field season will get under way this upcoming Saturday, Mar. 5 as they kick off their season in Riverside with RCC, UCR and Pepperdine.
