FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton is set to host UC Irvine to begin the second half of their Big West Conference schedule. The match is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Saturday in Titan Gym.
This will be the second time the Titans and Anteaters face each other this season as Fullerton came out on top in the first match in four sets back on October 12. CSF dropped the first set of that match, but bounced back to take the next three and come out with the victory. Julia Crawford led the way with her eighth double-double of the season, posting 20 kills and 17 digs. Danielle Jeffries had the best match of her young career with 14 kills on a .393 hit percentage while Savahna Costello led the defense with a match-high 22 digs en route to becoming the tenth Titan to record over 1,000 career digs.
Fullerton (10-9, 2-6 BWC) is coming off back-to-back losses after being swept by both CSUN and No. 21 Hawaii in the last two weeks, but is still in the midst of their best season since 2013. Crawford and Costello continue to lead the team on each side of the net as they rank in the NCAA top 10 in attacks per set and digs per set, respectively.
On the other side, UC Irvine (4-16, 1-7 BWC) has lost four straight matches since upsetting Hawaii in the beginning of October. As a team, they rank in the bottom two of the conference in every statistical category including a low .161 hit percentage that ranks last.
In the program's history, the Titans trail 24-47 all-time after topping the Anteaters in their first match of 2019.
