TERRE HAUTE, Ind.--- As they've managed to do so many times this year, the Titans showed tremendous heart, launching a dramatic rally to force a deciding fifth set after dropping the first two, but unfortunately the comeback fell just short. Fullerton dropped a 3-2 (14-25, 11-25, 25-22, 26-24, 2-15) contest to Indiana State on Friday afternoon inside ISU Arena.
For the Titans (4-7), they now fall to 0-4 in five set matches this season. In three of those, Fullerton had rallied all the way back after dropping each of the first two sets.
Madeline Schneider produced her fourth 15+ kills performance and fourth double-double of the season, as she recorded a team-best 15 kills and 16 digs in the match. Meagan Carlson also put up double-digit kills with 11.
On the defensive end, Cady Francis (13), Nastassja Bowman (12) and Makenzi Abelman (11) all checked in with double-figure digs.
After divisively dropping each of the first two sets, the Titans competed to scratch out a 25-22 third set victory to cut the lead to just 2-1 after hitting a match-high .250 in the frame.
The fourth set was close throughout, but Fullerton used a late 5-0 run to surge ahead to claim the 26-24 win. With momentum on the Titans' side heading into the fifth, things were looking good, but fatigue managed to catch up with Fullerton.
The Titans will close out non-conference play tomorrow, as they'll play Eastern Illinois at 8 am PT.
