Titans Conclude Non-Conference Play at Indiana State This Weekend

FULLERTON, Calif.--- The Titans look to complete a six-game road swing on a winning not before heading into Big West play, as the they'll take on Indiana State, Friday at 3 pm PT and Eastern Illinois, Saturday at 8 am PT in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Cal State Fullerton posted a strong showing on the road last weekend at the Towson Tiger Invitational, going 2-2, while winning its last match vs. Quinnipiac 3-1. Freshman Savahna Costello was superb all weekend long, as she earned All-Tournament honors and was names Big West Freshman of the Week.

Tickets for all Titans home games can be purchased online at FullertonTitans.com, or at the Cal State Fullerton Athletics Ticket Office, located in the Titan House on campus off of Gymnasium Drive on the northeast side of Titan Gym. Game day sales and will call tickets will open one hour prior to the scheduled time at the specific venue. All Cal State Fullerton students with a school ID get free admission. Fans are  also able to receive discounts by printing their gets at home.

  • Indiana State enters the weekend on a nine-match losing skid after winning its season opener vs. DePaul 3-0. It's 1-9 overall. Five of  its 10 matches have gone just three sets
  • Indiana State has 470 kills, while it has given up 568 on the year. its attack percentage is .207 as opposed to an opponent attack percentage of .282.
  • Laura Gross leads the team with 130 kills, accumulating 3.42 kills per set, while Kelcie Basan has a team-best 180 digs.

EASTERN ILLINOIS NOTES
Eastern Illinois comes into the weekend 4-6 on the weekend, but riding a three-match losing skid. It's shared one common opponent with the Titans thus far in Chicago State, both teams dropped their matches to the,

  • EIU has a total of 479 kills while they've surrendered 491. It has a hit percentage of .194, while opponents are hitting .203.
  • Maria Brown leads the way with 107 kills, while Anne Hues has a team-best 193 kills.

 

ABOUT THE TITANS

  • Fullerton enters the weekend at 4-6, but easily could be 6-4 after dropping a couple of tough five-setters to Chicago State and Southern Utah a few weekends ago
  • Three of Fullerton's six defeats this season have come in five sets.
  • The Titans' four wins is just two away from equaling its season total from last season, just one third of the way through the season.
  • Savahna Costello has been fantastic so far as a freshman, as she ranks third in the Big West in digs per set (4.75), second in overall digs (171) and second in service aces per set (0.42)
  • Madeline Schneider has been Fullerton's best player so far, as she leads the team in total attacks (426) and kills (134). Her kills rank fourth in the league.
  • Schneider was named Titan Tournament MVP during the season opening weekend, while Katie Roux named to the All-Tournament team last weekend.
  • Savahna Castillo was named to the Towson Tiger Invitational All-Tournament Team last weekend, while also collecting Big West Freshman of the Week honors.
