Women's Tennis Seeded Seventh for 2006 Big West Championships

FULLERTON, CA - The Cal State Fullerton women's tennis team was seeded seventh for the 2006 Big West Conference Championships to be held at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, Calif.

The championships begin on Friday, April 28, and run through Sunday, April 30. Long Beach State earned the top seed followed by the Anteaters, Cal Poly, UC Santa Barbara, Cal State Northridge, Pacific, the Titans, and UC Riverside.

The Titans and Anteaters will open first round play on April 28 at 9 a.m. with the winner facing the winner of the Cal Poly-Pacific match-up on Saturday at 9 a.m. The championship match is scheduled for Sunday at 9 a.m.

Fullerton finished the season 6-15 overall and 1-6 in Big West Conference play and is led by junior Gina Le, who posted a 15-12 overall singles record this season, and senior Ruya Inalpulat, who was 12-14 overall. The duo combined to post a 13-11 record in doubles play at the No. 1 position.

Both players earned all-conference honors in singles and doubles last season.

Le comes in as one of the Titans' hottest players, winning 10 of her last 14 singles matches at the Nos. 1 and 2 positions dating back to mid-February. Junior Mai-Ly Tran has also won seven of her last 11 matches in singles play.
