After playing at the No. 1 singles and doubles positions for four years, Inalpulat returns to the court for the Titans for her fourth season as an assistant coach with the Titans.
Originally from Ankara, Turkey, Ruya came to America as a 16-year-old freshman and immediately made a positive impact in the tennis program.
Inalpulat received the Arthur Ashe Scholarship Award her senior year; being recognized for outstanding achievements both on and off the tennis court. She is getting her degree in the communications, hoping to someday direct and produce her own movies. She has been a member of the Athletic Department Honor Roll every year.
CAL STATE FULLERTON
SENIOR (2005-06): Posted a 12-14 overall record
in singles play for the Titans, splitting time between the No. 1
and No. 2 singles positions... named to the All-Big West Honorable
Mention Team in singles... finished 10-11 against dual match
opponents and was 9-10 against regional opponents... finished as
the only Titan to post a winning record in Big West play at 4-3...
teamed with Gina Le at No. 1 singles, posting a 13-12 overall
record and an 11-10 mark in dual match play to earn all-conference
second-team honors... the duo won five straight doubles matches at
one point from March 1-18 and finished the year by winning seven of
their last 10.
JUNIOR (2004-05): Posted a team-best 17 singles
wins en route to All-Big West Conference Second Team honors and a
17-13 overall record... posted a 12-10 mark in dual match play -
all at No. 1 singles... won five of her first six matches on the
year and closed out the season equally strong, winning four of her
last five... went a combined 16-9 in doubles play, including a
team-best 13-3 mark with Gina Le at No. 2 doubles... the duo earned
All-Big West Honorable Mention honors in doubles play.
SOPHOMORE (2003-04): Competed the entire season at
No. 1 singles, posting a 10-13 dual match record and an 11-16
overall record... had a pair of three-match winning streaks... was
a combined 17-12 in doubles play, including 11-7 at No. 1 doubles
with teammate Ioana Sisoe... the 11 doubles victories were the
second-most among Titan doubles duos... Inalpulat/Sisoe won eight
of their first 11 contests... reached the semifinals of the Cal
State Fullerton Fall Intercollegiate Tournament with teammate
Mai-Ly Tran as the duo went 3-3 in the fall season.
FRESHMAN (2002-03): Finished her first season
with the Titans with an 8-21 overall record and a 5-19 mark in dual
matches... reached the third round of the Cal State Fullerton Fall
Intercollegiates and the second round of the ITA Regionals in
October... played the entire year at No. 1 singles for the
Titans... was 4-12 against regional opponents and 1-8 against Big
West foes... had a pair of two-match winning streaks... spent most
of the year playing No. 1 doubles with Ioana Sisoe, posting a 5-16
overall record (5-15 dual matches)... also played doubles with
Adriana Hockicko (2-0) and Carla Rocha (2-2).
HIGH SCHOOL: Member of the Turkish Junior Tennis
Federation... has been competing at the international level since
she was 12 years old... tennis history includes a current national
(Turkey) ranking of No. 4 in 16-and-under and a Top 20 ranking in
Open Women's... was selected by the Turkish Tennis Federation last
summer to be a member of the 16-and-under Summer Cup International
Team Championships held in Ankara.
PERSONAL:
Parents are Feza and Esengul Inalpulat... interested in
directing and producing her own movies... majoring in
communications... she has made the Athletics Honor Roll every
semester and carries a 3.23 grade point average.
