The Titans Get First Conference Loss At CSUN

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton is not undefeated anymore in Big West Conference play as the Matadors dominated the Titans 4-3.

The Titans are 8-3 now after CSUN put an end to a seven-match winning streak for Fullerton.
Cal State Fullerton is now 3-1 in Big West Conference play.

Genevieve Zeidan stays undefeated in dual singles (4-0) after her win on Saturday.

DOUBLES
The Titans started off strong as they took the doubles point early.
Eira Tobrand and Luxizi Meng were pairing up at No.3 and dominated CSUN's duo of Vyrlan and Ramos Vinola 6-1.
At No.1, Karla Portalatin and Sarah Nuno were facing Alcon and Van De Vondel. The Titans took the 6-3 win and gave the Titans their first point of the day.
Fullerton was leading 1-0 going into the singles.

SINGLES
CSUN tied it up to 1-1 quickly as Ana Fraile Toboso dominated Fullerton's Caisey Lee Emery in two sets 6-2,6-1.
Karla Portalatin gave the lead back to the Titans with her 6-2,6-3 win over Monika Van De Vondel at No.1.
Genevieve Zeidan needed only two sets to give the Titans their third point of the day. She won 6-4,7-5 against Skyla Alcon.
The Titans only needed one more point to take the win.
At No.2, Joelene Coetzee kept CSUN's hopes alive as Sarah Nuno went down against the Matador in two sets: 6-4,6-4.
On court No.6, Eira Tobrand saw her opponent win the first set 6-1. Tobrand was able to win the second set 6-3 but unfortunatly dropped the third one 2-6 allowing the Matador to tie it up to 3-3 in this dual.
It all came down to Court No.5 where Luxizi Meng was facing Sibel Demirbaga. Demirbaga dominated the first set 6-3. Meng was able to push her opponent to a third set after she won the tiebreaker in the second set. However, Demirbaga played well in the last set dominating Meng 6-1 and giving CSUN their first conference win of the season.

UP NEXT
The Titans will be back in action for a pair of matches at home next week. They will play Sacramento State on Wednesday at 1:30pm P.T. and Drake on Friday at 1:30pm P.T.
