FULLERTON, Calif. – The Titans will hit the road for the first time this season as they travel to Arizona this weekend for a pair of matches against Arizona State University and Grand Canyon University.
Fullerton will first play at the Whiteman Tennis Center of Arizona State this Friday at 12:30pm PT. Then, they'll head to Grand Canyon on Saturday with the match starting at 9am PT.
TITANS
Fullerton (1-0) won their season-opener 7-0 at home against Big West bound UC San Diego.
Their match against Arizona State will be their first away match and also their first against NCAA DI opposition.
The best season start in the Titans history was 11 straight wins in 2017.
HISTORY
The Titans will be looking to get their first ever win against the Sun Devils as they are 0-7 all-time. The last time the Titans faced Arizona State was in 1985 and the Titans went down 0-9. It is the first time the two programs will face each other Coach Dianne Matias.
The Titans own a perfect 6-0 record against the Lopes. The last match played was last year resulting in a 6-1 win for Cal State Fullerton. It will be the second time the Titans are facing GCU since Coach Dianne Matias joined the program.
OPPONENTS
The Arizona State Sun Devils have compiled 3 wins and 2 losses so far this season. They started strong winning their first three games, including a 4-0 win against UC Davis. They have since lost their two last games on the road against Wake Forest and UC Berkeley.
The Grand Canyon Antelopes have a 2-2 record for the 2019 campaign. They lost their last match against University of Nevada 3-4. Saturday will be their fourth straight home game.
