Tennis Returns to Action Friday

FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton women's tennis team returns to action at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, hosting 39th-ranked Long Beach State at the Titan Courts.

Fullerton (0-3) will quickly return to play on Sunday, hosting Kansas City (UMKC) at 10 a.m.

Opponents: Friday's match will be the first dual match of the year for Long Beach State. Last week, the 39th-ranked 49ers hosted the Beach Winter Invitational and posted a 29-3 overall record for the Invitational including finishing 9-1 in doubles and 20-2 in singles. Senior Klaudia Malenovska was selected as the Big West Player of the Week after completing the tournament with a 5-1 record. The 49ers have won six Big West titles in the last seven years, and LBSU holds a 36-15 overall record against the Titans.

UMKC was voted to win the 2013 Summit League Tennis Championships according to a preseason poll of league head coaches. The Kangaroos are aiming to win their first league title after setting the program record for wins for three straight seasons. UMKC opens its season on the West Coast playing UC Riverside (Friday) and Cal State Northridge (Saturday) in addition to the Titans.
