IRVINE, Calif. - The Big West Conference announced the eleventh Player of the Week honors of the 2022 softball season on Monday. Freshman pitcher Raci Miranda was named the Big West Pitcher of the Week and the Freshman of the Week after making a pitching appearance in all four games last week against LMU and UC Santa Barbara and earning a save and three wins.
Raci Miranda led the Titans pitching staff all week with a 0.00 ERA in 11.1 innings pitched. She allowed just 7 hits, 1 walk, 2 unearned runs, and struck out 10 for the week. Against LMU, Miranda pitched the final two frames and allowed just one walk and one hit and struck out one and earned the save. She pitched the final 1.2 innings against UCSB and came in to pitch in relief of Myka Sutherlin after inheriting two runners. She got out of the jam and allowed just one hit and struck out two to earn the win. She started both games against UCSB in the doubleheader on Saturday. In the first game, Miranda pitched 3.2 innings allowing just one hit, struck out 4, and was nearly perfect in 40 pitches. In the second game, Miranda went 4 innings and allowed four hits, 2 unearned runs, and struck out 3 batters.
These are the first Big West weekly honors in Miranda's career.
This is the eighth for the Titans this season as Peyton Toto was named the Field Player of the Week in the first week. Megan Delgadilo and Myka Sutherlin were named Field Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week in the third week. Daisy Munoz was named the Field Player of the Week in the fifth week. Myka Sutherlin was named the Pitcher of the Week in the sixth and seventh week.
The Titans head to Easton Field on Wednesday to square off against the No. 5 team in the nation in UCLA and then head home this weekend to Anderson Family Field to go up against a red-hot Cal Poly that is now 4th in the conference after winning 10 of their last 12 Big West games.
