NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton women's softball team defeated the CSUN Matadors on a doubleheader on Saturday to complete the series sweep at the Matador Diamond.

The Titans won the first game of the doubleheader, 6-4 in nine innings.  They won the second game of the doubleheader, 8-2. 

Multiple players had big days during the doubleheader.  Megan Delgadillo had five steals for the day including three in the second game.  Daisy Munoz had five hits and six RBIs for the day with three in each game.   Myka Sutherlin pitched in both games and picked up two wins.  She went 8.1 innings allowing just 1 run (unearned) on 3 hits.  She struck out 11 Matadors for the day and picked up her 100th strikeout of the season at the end of the 4th inning in the second game.

Game 1, Cal State Fullerton 6, CSUN 4 (9 Innings)

After allowing the tying run to score in the sixth inning, the Titans would eventually win the first game of Saturday's doubleheader in the ninth inning.  

The first runs of the game scored by both sides were all unearned to start the game. 

The Titans took a 1-0 lead in the first inning after Megn Delgadillo led the game off with an infield error.  She stole her first base of the day and came around to score on a Daisy Munoz sac fly.

In the second inning, the Titans had runners on the corners to start the inning after Peyton Toto reached on an error on a sac bunt.  Antuanett Dean ended up scoring Jessi Alcala after a throwing error by the catcher.  Alexa Neil would come around to score in the inning as well after scoring on a wild pitch.

In the bottom half of the inning CSUN put up two runs.  After loading the bases with one out, Aaliyan Swan hit a grounder to 3B that Becerra should've made a play on to get one out but instead she couldn't field it properly.

The Matadors tied the game in the third inning after a solo home run.  

The Titans scored the go ahead run in the 5th inning after Hannah Becerra led the inning off with a base hit and stole second base.  Daisy Munoz smacked a single up the middle that brought home Becerra.

However, the Matadors responded with a run in the sixth inning after a runner came around to score from 1st on a double to left center with two outs.  

In the 9th inning, the Titans would finally go ahead for good.  Megan Delgadillo singled to right field and stole second.  She advanced to third after a Hannah Becerra fielder's choice.  Alyssa Hernandez scored Delgadillo on a sac fly.

Daisy Munoz doubled in Hannah Becerra for her third RBI of the game and to give the Titans a 6-4 lead.

Raci Miranda drew the start and went 5 innings allowing 3 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits, 0 walks, and 5 strikeouts.  Myka Sutherlin got the win after tossing 3.1 scoreless innings and allowing 1 hit and striking out 4.

For the game, the Titans stole five bases with Delgadillo and Becerra each picking up two.  Antuanett Dean stole the other bag.

Game 2, Cal State Fullerton 8, CSUN 2

After going ahead early, the Titans would have to comeback for the second time in the series in the second game of the doubleheader.

Megan Delgadillo led the game off with a walk and came around to seal second.  She scored after a Daisy Munoz RBI single, her fourth of the day.

CSUN tied the game in the second inning after a solo homerun by Alexa Landeros.

The Matadors took the lead in the fourth inning after taking advantage of a Sutherlin error.  She had what should've been the third out on a slow comebacker but she overthrew the ball to first which allowed a runner to score from second.

However, the Titans wasted zero time to pick Sutherlin back up.  Megan Delgadillo reached 1st after a fielding error by the first baseman who bobbled a ball thrown from the pitcher.  She stole second and got to third base on a throwing error.  Hannah Becerra doubled her in off a shot off the wall to tie the game at 2-2.  

Daisy Munoz singled in Becerra for her fifth RBI of the day to give the Titans a 3-2 lead. 

In the 7th inning, the Titans put up a big 5-spot of insurance runs.

Megan Delgadillo led the inning off by getting hit by a pitch.  She stole second for her third steal of the game and fifth of the day and advanced to third on a throwing error by the catcher.  Hannah Becerra took second base after being walked. 

Alyssa Hernandez singled through the left side to score Delgadillo.

Daisy Munoz singled in Hannah Becerra to make it a 5-2 game.  That would be Munoz's sixth RBI of the day as she had back-to-back 3-RBI games in the doubleheader.

Jessi Alcala hit a double off a flare to right center that scored ALyssa Hernandez.

Peyton Toto would single up the middle to bring in two more runs to make it an 8-2 ballgame.

Staci Chambers got the start and went 2 innings, allowing just one run on a solo home run and struck out two.  Myka Sutherlin got the win after going 5 innings in relief and allowing 1 run (unearned) on two hits and striking out 7.  Sutherlin reached her 100th strikeout of the season after the end of the 4th inning.

The Titans head to California Baptist University on Tuesday, April 12th for a midweek game at 6:00 pm.
