Box Score

FULLERTON, Calif.- The Cal State Fullerton Titans lost against the UC Riverside Highlanders by a score of 15-5 in five innings in the first game of a three game series on Friday night at Anderson Family Field.

The UCR Highlanders (13-16, 4-3 BWC) pounded out 15 hits and scored 15 runs.  The Titans (20-13, 5-2 BWC) managed five runs off two home runs but it was all UCR for most of the night.

UC Riverside put up six runs in the first inning after sending 10 batters to the dish, pounding out 4 hits including one HR, and three walks. That would set the tone for the UCR batters for the rest of the evening.

The Titans cut the lead in half to make it a 6-3 game after Deshea Hill hit a 3-run home run over the LF wall.

However, the Highlanders would add two more runs in the second and three in the third inning to open up a 11-3 lead.

Jessi Alcala picked up the second hit of the night after blasting her 3rd home of the season over the LF fence to make it an 11-5 game.

However, UCR responded with 4 runs in the fifth off two home runs to make it a 15-5 game.

After throwing four consecutive complete games to start Big West Play, Myka Sutherlin only completed one out in the 1st inning and was responsible for all six runs in the first.  The rest of the TItans staff allowed 9 runs, 11 hits, and three walks.  Chrys Hildebrand pitched four innings and picked up the win for the Highlanders.

The Titans will host a double-header on Saturday against the Highlanders.  The first game is set for 2:00 pm with the third game of the series to fall around 30 minutes after that.

Notes: Taylor Dockins made a triumphant return to the field as she threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
