BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans took the series over Cal State Bakersfield on Saturday and winning the double-header over the Roadrunners.  Myka Sutherlin pitched the 57th no-hitter in Titan softball history in Game 1 while the offense took care of Game 2 in a five inning rule-run victory

GAME 1, Cal State Fullerton 6, Cal State Bakersfield 0

Myka Sutherlin entered her name into the Titans record books after recording the 57th No-Hitter in Titan history as the Titans defeated Cal State Bakersfield 6-0 in the first ever match-up as Big West Conference opponents.

This is the first no-hitter since Taylor Dockins threw one against the University of San Diego on February 22nd, 2018.

The reigning Big West Pitcher of the Week, Myka Sutherlin,  pitched her third complete game in a row and struck out nine in seven innings and only 101 pitches.  She faced two batters over the minimum after allowing one walk and hitting one batter.  She has allowed zero earned runs in her past 20 innings of work.

The Titans took a lead in the first inning after Megan Delgadillo led the game off with a single and stole second.  She advanced to third on a groundout and scored on a Hannah Becerra flyball to shallow right field that the Bakersfield second baseman couldn't make a play on.

The Titans put up a 4-spot in the third inning on four hits. Hannah Becerra singled and Daisy Munoz doubled down the RF line to put two on.  Kika Ramirez had a sac bunt that the pitcher made a bad throw on that ended up scoring two runs on the play.

Jessi Alcala singled to put runners on the corners.  Jazmyn Vigilante pinch ran for her and stole second to put two runners in scoring position.  Alexa Neil then doubled down the LF line to bring in two more runs for the inning.

In the fifth inning, Jessi Alcala hit a moon shot over the center field fence to make it a 6-0 game and that was all the Titans needed for the rest of the game.

GAME 2, Cal State Fullerton 10, Cal State Bakersfield 1

The Titan bats came out relentlessly to start the second game of the doubleheader.   The Titans put up a huge 7-run inning to start the game before adding three more in the fourth inning to take the second game 10-1 in five innings.

Almost every starter had a hit in the 12-hit attack.  Alexa Neil led the team with a perfect 3-for-3 with 1 run scored and 4 RBIs.  Megan Delgadillo was 2-for-3 with 1 run scored and 3 RBIs.

On her 19th birthday, Raci Miranda picked up the win after going 4 innings and allowing one run on two hits, one walk, and striking out five.

The Titans sent 11 batters to the dish in the first inning and scored 7 runs on just 3 hits and 1 error.  Megan Delgadillo led the game off with a walk and scored on the next at-bat after a sac bunt by Peyton Toto led to an error that Delgadillo scored from 1st on.  After Daisy Munoz and Kika Ramirez were both hit by pitches to load the bases, Jessi Alcala hit a double to right center to score two.

Alyssa Hernandez was hit to load the bases and Alexa Neil tripled down the RF line to clear the bases.

In Delgadillo's second at-bat of the inning, she beat out an infield single to score Neil and make it 7-0.

After the Roadrunners got one run, the Titans tagged Bakersfield for three more runs in the fourth.

Kika Ramirez, Sophie Guevara, and Alyssa Hernandez all singled to start the inning.  Alexa Neil had an RBI single through the right side and Megan Delgadillo doubled to center to score two more runs and make it a 10-1 game.

Staci Chambers pitched the last inning but not without some scares.  The Roadrunners loaded the bases with one out in the inning but a line out double play to Peyton Toto ended the threat from the Roadrunners and sealed the game in five innings for the Titans.

The Titans look to go for the series sweep on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
