IRVINE, Calif. - The Big West Conference announced the sixth Player of the Week honors of the 2022 softball season on Monday. Junior pitcher Myka Sutherlin was named the Big West Pitcher of the Week after her two starts against UC Davis in the first Big West Conference series of the season.
Sutherlin led the Titans this week in her two starts. She tossed two complete games in Game 1 and in Game 3. Her complete game shutout in Game 3 helped secure the series for the Titans over UC Davis. She struck out 13 batters in 13 innings of work and allowed two runs (zero earned). She allowed just seven hits and five walks. She outdueled the previous Big West Pitcher of the Week from UC Davis, Kenedi Brown.
Sutherlin was previously named the Big West Pitcher of the Week in Week 3 after the Mary Nutter Tournament.
This is the fifth honor for the Titans this season as Peyton Toto was named the Field Player of the Week in the first week. Megan Delgadilo and Myka Sutherlin were named Field Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week in the third week. Daisy Munoz was named the Field Player of the Week in the fifth week.
The Titans remain on the road to start Big West play as they head to Cal State Bakersfield this weekend.
