FULLERTON, Calif. -  The Cal State Fullerton Titans split their two games on Friday against Nebraska and Sacramento State in the split tournament with Long Beach State.

The Titans outhit their opponents a combined 17-to-7 however they were only able to score four total runs for the day.

Daisy Munoz had a tremendous day at the plate as she went 3-for-3 in both games.  Munoz finished the night, a perfect 6-for-6 with two RBIs.

GAME 1, Cal State Fullerton 1, Nebraska 3

The first game of the day against the Nebraska Cornhuskers was a frustrating game for the Titans filled with missed opportunities.

Raci Miranda and Alexia Silvas combined to throw seven innings without an earned run, however a second inning with two errors proved very costly for the Titans.

The Titans outhit Nebraska 8-to-3 but could only push across one run. Daisy Munoz led the offense with 3 hits and the only RBI for the Titans.

The Titans took the lead in the first inning after Daisy Munoz singled in Hannah Becerra on a single to the left side of the infield.

Nebraska put an unfortunate three spot on the Titans in the second inning.  After two infield errors and a single loaded the bases for the Huskers.  They were able to cash in on three runs with all of them being unearned.  The Huskers would not get a hit for the rest of the game after the second inning.

The Titans just couldn't string together hits to bring in the runners they put on base the rest of the game.  They should've had a great opportunity in the fourth inning after Munoz led the inning off with a single.  Peyton Toto was hit by a pitch but the umpire ruled that she didn't get out of the way and eventually struck out.  If the Titans had runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs, Jessi Alcala had a single that would've probably scored the runner on second and it would've been a whole different ball game.

But the Titans didn't let the game hang over their heads and were able to rebound in the second game over Sacramento State

Game 2, Cal State Fullerton 3, Sacramento State 2

Despite outhitting their opponents 9-to-4 in the game, the Titans could never quite break open the big inning to pull away from the Hornets.

Myka Sutherlin pitched the complete 7-inning game and allowed just two runs on four hits, five walks, and 10 strikeouts.  Lexie Webb took the loss after allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 9 hits, 1 walk, and five strikeouts.

Munoz was the only Titan to have a multi-hit game against the Hornets.

The Hornets took the lead in the third after a solo HR by Lewa Day.  But the Titans would respond immediately after Daisy Munoz scored Hannah Becerra on an infield single.

The Titans added another one in the fourth inning after loading the bases to start the inning.  Hannah Becerra had a productive ground out to score one run to make it a 2-1 game.

The Hornets would tie the game up in the next half-inning after a homerun by the pitcher, Lexie Webb.

However the Titans regained the lead in the sixth inning when Megan Delgadillo got on base with two outs.  She stole second, advanced to third after the catcher's throw sailed into the outfield.  And eventually scored when the centerfielder's throw to third base got away.

The Titans wrap up pre-conference tournament play with a doubleheader on Saturday.  The Titans will square off against the UCF Knights and the Iowa State Cyclones.
