FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton (1-1) split their Friday doubleheader with a 6-5 loss aganst Ole Miss (3-1) before dominating 13-0 over Dixie State (0-3) in the night cap.

In game one, in only their fourth ever match-up, the Cal State Fullerton softball team fell in their 2022 season opener at home 6-5 against Ole Miss in their first game of the Easton Invitational.

The Titans had an encouraging start as they jumped to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning and tagged the Rebels starter, Anna Borgen, out of the game.

With runners on third and second with two outs in the bottom of the first, the Titans had a long two out rally.  With her first game in 702 days, Deshea Hill knocked in the first run on an RBI single.  Peyton Toto, Jessi Alcala, and Alyssa Hernandez would follow her up with RBI knocks of their own.

The Rebels got one run back in the third after getting the first three batters on base in the inning. Raci Miranda made her Titan debut in the circle and navigated out of the inning.

Ole Miss would eventually have their own four run inning in the fifth inning to take the lead after scoring four runs on four hits and one error to take a 5-4 lead.

The Rebels relief pitcher Savannah Diederich had shut the Titans offense down for most of the game since the first inning.  Finally in the 5th inning the Fullerton offense got some runners on base. The Titans thought they would have the breakthrough in the sixth inning.

Alyssa Hernandez hit an absolute moonshot to tie the game up at 5-5 in the sixth inning.

In the next at-bat, Kika Ramirez worked a walk.  Antuanett Dean pinch ran for her and stole second.  Megan Delgadillo beat out a wild throw on an infield slap and Dean would come around to cross home plate on the play.  However, the umpire ruled that Dean never touched home plate and she was tagged out by the catcher to end the inning and what would have given the Titans the 6-5 lead.

The Rebels would ultimately break the 5-5 tie in the seventh inning.  Alexia Silvas had given up three hits to start the inning but was able to limit the damage to one run on a sac fly.

However, the Titans would go down in order in the seventh to hand the Rebels the win.

Staci Chambers started the game and went two innings allowing just one run.  Raci Miranda pitched two innings and allowed four runs (three earned).  Alexia Silvas pitched the final three innings and allowed just one run on five strikeouts.
