SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton softball split Monday's doubleheader at San Diego. The Titans won game one by a score of 3-1 while the Toreros took game two, 1-0. Both Titans starting pitchers, Sophie Frost and Savannah Serrata, had strong outings.

GAME ONE
Frost recorded her second complete-game win in the last week as she went the distance allowing just one run, four hits and three walks while striking out nine. She has struck out nine batters in each of her last two outings, just one off her career-best mark of 10.

The Titans jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning. With one out, Freshman KK Humphreys singled, then stole second and third base. Up next was Bailey Wallace and she recorded a bunt single and then stole second. With runners on second and third, sophomore Daisy Munoz drove home Humphreys via fielder's choice and then senior Irie Siofele hit an RBI single to score Wallace.

USD pulled one back in the bottom of the third inning after a leadoff walk that eventually came around to score.

Senior Julia Valenzuela singled in the top of the sixth, advanced to second on a groundout, then came around to score an unearned run due to a throwing error to extend the CSF lead to 3-1.

GAME TWO
The game was scoreless and the Titans had runners on second and third with one out in the top of the fifth but the ensuing batters struck out and popped out to end the inning. In the bottom of the fifth, USD then hit a leadoff triple, then an RBI single in the next at-bat to take a 1-0 lead and that would be it for both offenses.

The freshman Serrata pitched five innings, the longest of her young career, and allowed just one earned run. She allowed four hits, walked one batter and hit two others but also struck out two.

The Titans stole three bases and left five runners on base. The Toreros left five stranded as well.

Next up, the Titans play at California Baptist on Wednesday at 6 p.m. PT.
