DAVIS, Calif. -- Cal State Fullerton sophomore Adriana Gjonovich scored three minutes before halftime and senior JeAnne Mazeau later added the eventual game-winner in the 58th minute on Friday afternoon, lifting the visiting Titans to a 2-1 victory over UC Davis and clinch a spot in next week's Big West Conference Tournament.

The victory was Fullerton's sixth in its last seven matches as the Titans improved to 9-8 overall and 6-2 in the Big West Conference, qualifying for the league's postseason tournament for the first time since 2007. The Aggies, who pulled to within a goal with 20 minutes to play, fell to 7-9-2 overall and 2-5-1 in league play.

"I am extremely proud of the women today," Head Coach Demian Brown said. "We faced a very determined UC Davis side and we were able to withstand the pressure they applied. We are excited to officially be in the Big West Tournament and look forward to Sunday's match at Pacific."

Friday's match remained scoreless until the 42nd minute when Gjonovich's third goal of the season gave the Titans the early lead when she settled a deflected pass from senior Ann Marie Tangorra along the left endline and found the back of the net from seven yards out for the 1-0 advantage.

Fullerton made it a two-goal lead just after halftime, taking advantage of a foul on the right side. From 35 yards out, Mazeau curled home a rocket from long distance into the left side of the goal for the second goal of her career and a 2-0 advantage.

The Aggies halved the lead in the 71st minute on Kiele Argente's fourth of the year off a deflection from 20 yards out that made it 2-1, but the Titans' defense held firm, allowing just one shot over the final 20 minutes to secure the victory.

Cal State Fullerton held a, 9-7, lead the shot column, getting a pair from both Tangorra and Chelsey Patterson, while also holding a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks on the day. Junior Lindsey Maricic was forced to make only one save in the victory.

The Titans' run toward a possible Big West regular season title concludes on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. as Fullerton takes on Pacific in Stockton, Calif., in the regular season finale for both teams.
