Titans Return to Action Monday at Battle at the Rock hosted by UC Riverside

RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- The Cal State Fullerton women's golf team returns to the links beginning Monday as the Titans head to the Battle at the Rock hosted by UC Riverside at the Oak Quarry Golf Club in Riverside, Calif.

THE COURSE: The Battle at the Rock will be played at the Oak Quarry Golf Club in Riverside, Calif. The course will play as a par-72 at 6,079 yards from the golf tees. Oak Quarry is a thrilling, 18-hole, 72-par championship course, masterfully designed by Dr. Gil Morgan/Schmidt Curley Designs. The CGCOA's 2011 Course of the Year winds through the picturesque jagged terrain of the historical Jensen Quarry. Since opening in 2000, this unparalleled course has received many awards including "Best Course Inland Southern California," "Hole #14 rated Best Par 3 in Southern California," and "Hole #4 Prettiest Par 4."

The tournament will tee off with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. with 36 holes scheduled for Monday followed by the final 18 holes on Tuesday.

THE FIELD: The Battle at the Rock will feature 15 teams, including the Titans. The rest of the field includes hosts UC Riverside, Long Beach State, Wyoming, Cal Poly, Portland State, CSUN, Hawai'i, UC Irvine, Northern Arizona, Montana, Seattle, CSU Bakersfield, Grand Canyon and defending team champions Santa Clara.

BACK TO WORK: Senior Martina Edberg is coming off three victories in four tournaments during the fall schedule. She enters the spring season ranked as the No. 37 golfer in the nation according to Golfweek's individual rankings. As a team, the Titans ranked No. 106 in the nation.

RECORDS MADE TO BE BROKEN: The Titans have already broken a number of individual and team records this season. Edberg broke her own program record, posting a 10-under 206 on her way to victory at the WSU Cougar Cup during the fall. She is also the first Titans golfer to average a score under par (70.33) in the fall. The Titans also broke the single-round and tournament scoring record, posting a round of 283 and overall score of 868 at the WSU Cougar Cup.
