IN THE RANKINGS: Host Cal State Fullerton and Gonzaga are the only two teams competing this weekend ranked in the top 100 of both the GolfStat NCAA Head-to-Head and Golfweek rankings as of Feb. 14. The Bulldogs are the highest-ranked team in the tournament at No. 55 and No. 66, respectively, while the Titans are ranked No. 83 according to Golfweek and No. 86 according to GolfStat.

The others teams are ranked as follows in the order of GolfStat/Golfweek rankings: Boise State (#110/104), Cal Poly (#184/177), Hawaii (#165/171), New Mexico State (#148/150), Portland State (#137/131), Sacramento State (#160/167), Stetson (#159/157), UC Riverside (#128/116), Montana (#164/170), and Wyoming (#144/149).

BACK FOR ANOTHER CRACK AT IT: 2012 Folino Invitational champions Long Beach State (men) and Gonzaga (women) are back to defend their titles as are individual champions Tyler Torano of Loyola Marymount and Montata's Tara Green. On the women's side, the Bulldogs were 13 strokes better than the Titans in last year's event, finishing 45-over-par after a tournament single-round record 293 in the final round. Individually, Green finished 7-over-par to edge out Gonzaga's Alice Kim and Cal State Fullerton's Taylor Fowler by a single stroke for top honors.

TITANS AT THE FOLINO: Prior to finishing second in last year's event, the Titans finished fifth in the inaugural Folino Invitational back in 2010 won by Long Beach State by four strokes over conference rival UC Irvine at the Oak Creek Golf Club in Irvine, Calif.

A LOOK BACK: Sophomore Tisha Alyn Abrea finished in a tie for fourth individually with a 14-over-par 230 and the Titans finished eighth overall to close out the 2013 Gold Rush Presented by Farmers Insurance and hosted by Long Beach State at the Yorba Linda Country Club. Abrea, who was in a tie for fifth after 36 holes, shot a 5-over 77 in the final round to finish six shots off the lead and post her best finish of the 2012-13 campaign.

ABREA IN THE RED: The Cal State Fullerton sophomore put up her fair share of red numbers last week in Yorba Linda, sharing the top spot in tournament play with nine birdies and leading the event in par-5 scoring at 3-under-par. That helped Abrea, who was the only Titan in the 70s in all three rounds, post her best finish of the season, topping her previous best of a tie for sixth at the Rose City Collegiate on Oct. 1-2.

EIGHT IS NOT SO GREAT: The Titans' eighth place finish in Yorba Linda marked the first time this season that Fullerton had not finished in the top four as a team and was the squads worst finish since the Titans ended up ninth at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational on Nov. 1-2, 2011.

BROWN BOUNCES BACK IN COLLEGIATE DEBUT: Playing in her first collegiate event as a Titan, freshman Dakota Brown closed out The Gold Rush tournament with the second-lowest round by a Fullerton golfer on the week, shooting a final-round 76 as one of only five rounds in the 70s shot by a Titan on the weekend. It was a solid finish for the Brea, Calif., native after opening her career with rounds of 91 and 93 to start the tournament.
