Titans Third, Abrea Sixth After Day One in Oregon

AURORA, Ore. -- Cal State Fullerton sophomore Tisha Alyn Abrea shot a 6-over-par 150 through the first two rounds and the Titans remained steady throughout the day, finishing tied for third after 36 holes at the 2012 Rose City Collegiate hosted by Portland State on Monday in Aurora, Ore.

Abrea, who finished ninth at this event with a 10-over-par 226 last season, finished with a pair of 75's at the par-72 Langdon Farms Golf Club to share the spot with Seattle's Lori Peterson. Peterson and the Redhawks lead the tournament by 13 strokes over second-place Oregon State and are 15 shots ahead of the Titans and Northern Arizona in third place.

Seattle's Clare Sorenson finished with a 1-under-par 143 to hold the individual lead after 36 holes and is one of three Seattle golfers in the top 10.

Senior Taylor Fowler, who was tied for second individually after a 1-under-par 71 in the first round, tumbled into a tie for 16th after carding an 82 in the second round. She shares the spot with sophomore teammate Makayla Mier at 9-over-par.

Last weekend's top finisher in Pullman, Wash., sophomore Seri Lee finished day one in a tie for 25th at 12-over-par while teammate Nicole Rivera is tied for 48th after finishing with a 17-over-par 161.

The final round begins with a shotgun start on Tuesday morning (Oct. 2) at 8 a.m. Rivera kicks things off for the Titans at 8:45 a.m., followed by Lee at 8:54 a.m., Fowler at 9:03 a.m., Mier at 9:12 a.m., and Abrea at 9:21 a.m.
