FULLERTON, CA - Cal State Fullerton freshman guard Lauren Chow was named the Big West Conference Freshman of the Year while junior Toni Thomas and freshman Ashley Richie also nabbed conference laurels as the Big West released its postseason honor roll on Monday morning.

Thomas was named to the All-Big West First Team for the second consecutive season while Chow and Richie were both honored as part of the All-Freshman and All-Big West Honorable Mention squads.

Chow became the second Titan in the last three seasons to be named the league's top freshman, joining Thomas who won the award in 2005-06. Averaging a league-best 2.57 three-pointers per game, Chow averaged 12.4 points and 3.43 assists per game while also ranking among the league's top 10 in scoring, three-point percentage (2nd, .356) and steals (10th, 1.68 spg).

She is the fourth Titan to earn Big West Freshman of the Year honors and becomes one of 13 players in school history to be named to the all-freshman team.

Thomas is the only repeat selection to the All-Big West First Team in 2007-08 after leading the league in scoring during the regular season at 17.4 points per game and ranking second in rebounding at 7.7 per game. She also ranks among the league's best in field goal percentage (3rd), free throw percentage (4th), blocks (t9th), and minutes played (t3rd).

She is only the third player in the history of the program to earn first-team honors in back-to-back seasons and joins former Titan greats Eugenia Miller-Rycraw and Shayla Bradshaw as the only Fullerton players to be honored on the all-conference teams three times in their careers.

Thomas' selection is the 11th first-team nod for Cal State Fullerton in the history of the program.

Richie turned it on late to earn her first all-conference honor, averaging 10.7 points and 3.4 rebounds per game while averaging 1.75 assists per game and 1.64 steals per game. She has scored in double figures in six of her last nine contests and ranks among the top 10 scorers in conference-only games at 12.9 points per contest.

Chow and Richie give the Titans a representative on the all-freshman squad in five of the last eight seasons and two players were votes to the All-Freshman Team for the third time in the history of the program and the first since 1992-93.

Cal State Fullerton opens the Big West Tournament on Wednesday afternoon (March 12) at approximately 2:30 p.m. as the sixth-seeded Titans take on No. 7 Long Beach State at the Anaheim Convention Center.
