RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton women's basketball team lost at UC Riverside on Friday night in the SRC Arena by a score of 55-43. Keilanei Cooper of UCR scored a game-high 19 points. Game two of the series is set for 4 p.m. PT on Saturday.

The Titans (1-12, 0-9 Big West) led in the first 90 seconds of the game but that would be it as UCR (6-7, 3-4 Big West) led for 35 minutes. Fullerton recorded a season-high (against DI competition) 10 steals that resulted in 12 points but it was not enough to overcome a poor shooting night. The Titans were just 18-58 (31.0%) from the field, 2-14 (14.3%) from distance and 5-8 (62.5%) at the free-throw line.

The Highlanders shot 43.5% (20-46) overall, 38.5% (5-13) beyond the arc and 83.3% (10-12) at the charity stripe.

Senior forward Carolyn Gill scored a team-high 14 points for the Titans to go with six rebounds, two assists, three steals and a block in 35 minutes. Freshman guard Gabi Vidmar pitched in 12 points, three rebounds, one assist and two steals in 28 minutes off the bench. Senior forward Joy Krupa contributed three points, ten rebounds, three assists and three steals.
