SAN DIEGO   – Iman Lathan scored a game-high 20 points for the Cal State Fullerton women's basketball team, but the University of San Diego's offense could not be stopped as the Toreros defeated the Titans 103-50 at Jenny Craig Pavilion in the season opener for both programs on Friday night.

San Diego (1-0) shot a blistering 58.8 (40-of-68) from the floor as four players scored in double figures led by Katherine Hamilton's 17 points. Hamilton shot 7-of-10 from the floor, delivered four assists and added two steals.

Maya Hood was a rebound short of a double-double with 16 points and a game-high nine rebounds, while Sydney Williams poured in 13 points.

The Toreros delivered 23 assists on 40 baskets as Cori Woodward dished out a game-high eight assists to go along with 10 points.

Fullerton (0-1) was forced into 24 turnovers and shot just 29.1 percent (16-of-55) from the floor.

Senior Dhanyel Johnson led the Titans with eight rebounds while freshman Keimeshia Walker scored eight points off the bench.

The Titans shot 73.7 percent (14-of-19) from the free-throw line, and were outrebounded 42-34.

Cal State Fullerton returns to action at 7 p.m., Monday hosting Idaho at Titan Gym.

Notes: The last team to score at least 103 points against Cal State Fullerton was Oregon in a 117-69 loss in Eugene on Nov. 27, 2009…the last team to defeat the Titans by at least 53 points was UC Santa Barbra in a 79-24 loss on Feb. 21, 2001…Cal State Fullerton is now 27-21 in season openers including 11-13 on the road…San Diego leads the all-time series 15-7.
