OPENING WEEKEND
The Cal State Fullerton women's basketball team will open the season at 6 p.m., Friday at San Diego with a 10-player roster, of which only four have ever played in a regular season game before as a Titan. Following Friday's season opener, Cal State Fullerton will return to Titan Gym for a 7 p.m. tip-off against Idaho in the team's home opener.

SEASON OPENERS
Cal State Fullerton boasts a record of 27-20 in season openers dating back to the 1969-70 season. The Titans are near .500 in season openers played on the road with a record of 11-12.In addition, Fullerton has opened the season once before against San Diego, scoring a 77-47 victory on Nov. 21, 1983.Fullerton had lost three straight season openers before defeating Portland State, 84-69, a year ago at Titan Gym. Fullerton's last season-opening victory on the road was a 79-77 victory at San Jose State on Nov. 13, 2009.

HOME OPENERS
Cal State Fullerton returns to Titan Gym at 7 p.m., Monday, to host Idaho in its home opener. The Titans are 30-17 in home openers, and this will be the first time Fullerton hosts the Vandals in its home opener.

ROSTER OVERHAUL
Cal State Fullerton had seven players, including four starters, depart the program following the 2015-16 season. Fourth-year head coach Daron Park brought in four newcomers, while three players that redshirted a year ago are also ready to compete.Expected to help immediately are redshirt junior guards Iman Lathan (Nevada) and Jordan Jackson (Central Florida). Each sat out the 2015-16 season due to NCAA transfer rules. In addition, 6-foot-3 redshirt sophomore Daeja Smith is back on the court after missing last year with an injury.New to the program includes freshman guard Keimeshia Walker, freshman forward Onyx Henderson, redshirt junior guard China Henderson and freshman forward Mia Gallo.

THE RETURNERS
Fullerton returns to the floor with just one starter from last year, 5-foot-5 sophomore guard, Jade Vega, who averaged 7.6 points per game and led the team in both assists (80/2.67 per game) and steals (38/1.27 per game).In total, the Titans only return three letterwinners with sophomore guard Lauren Nubla and senior center Dhanyel Johnson back on the floor. Nubla played in 29 games making 14 starts, averaging 3.9 points per game, while Johnson appeared in 26 games averaging 3.2 points and 3.3 rebounds per game shooting 60.0 percent (30-of-50) from the floor.

SAN DIEGO  NOTES
• Behind a double-double of 28 points and 15 rebounds from senior guard Maya Hood, the University of San Diego women's basketball team cruised its way to a 84-69 win over Point Loma Tuesday evening in a exhibition game at Jenny Craig Pavilion. 
• USD has now posted a 20-win season for five consecutive years. During this five-year stretch, the Toreros have recorded 122 wins, the second most amount of wins among any Division I school in California, only trailing Stanford. USD has also managed to make the postseason for five consecutive seasons, making the Final Four of the WNIT in 2011-12, then making two more trips to the Sweet 16 of the WNIT, including last season.

IDAHO NOTES
•  The Vandals were voted to finish first in the Big Sky Conference coaches poll and second by the Big Sky media poll. 
• Former Cal State Fullerton women's basketball assistant coach Stephen Fennelly spent three years with the Titans and is now in his first year as an assistant coach at Idaho.
• Idaho made 350 three-pointers last season, marking the fifth consecutive season with 200-plus.  The Vandals were just one of nine teams in the NCAA to make 300-plus.
• Idaho out-scored opponents by 10.3 ppg last season, the best mark in the Big Sky (34th NCAA).
• Idaho suffered a first-round loss to Baylor in the 2016 NCAA Tournament after beating Idaho State, 67-55, in the Big Sky Tournament championship game. The Vandals finished the year with an overall record of 24-10 as well as a 13-5 mark in the Big Sky Conference.

LAST TIME OUT
Jordan Jackson scored a game-high 23 points and led the Cal State Fullerton women's basketball team to an 88-49 victory over visiting Hope International in an exhibition game at Titan Gym on Nov. 1.Each of Fullerton's nine players who appeared in the game scored, as China Henderson recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Senior Dhanyel Johnson also picked up a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 16 rebounds – nine on the offensive end – as the Titans outrebounded the Royals 58-40.
Redshirt junior Iman Lathan poured in 14 points, while Jackson added a game-high six steals to go along with four boards.Freshman Keimeshia Walker scored 10 points on 5-of-10 shooting with three assists and three steals, while sophomore guard Lauren Nubla led the Titans with five dishes.
"We wanted to see if we could learn to play together as a team," fourth-year head coach Daron Park said. "We spend so much time talking about selfishness and exhibiting selfish behaviors. If we can minimize those and show signs that we like playing for each other more than we like playing for ourselves, then I think we have the chance to have a special season."
Fullerton also delivered 18 assists on 36 baskets as eight of the nine players on the floor recorded at least one assist. The Titans forced the Royals into 24 turnovers and totaled 17 steals.
