Fullerton, Calif. - Aaron Craggs, Earl Alexander and Florian Wolff scored goals Saturday night as Cal State Fullerton beat UC Davis, 3-1, in a non-conference men's soccer match in Titan Stadium. The win was the second of the week for the Titans, who improved to 4-9-1 while the Aggies fell to 6-6-2.
Davis came into the match allowing less than one goal per match (0.85) and hadn't allowed more than two goals in any game. Fullerton had scored as many as three goals only once previously this season.
Craggs put the Titans ahead for good with a penalty kick at 23:45 after Skyler Thuresson had been tackled in the box. Alexander scored on a perfectly placed free kick into the upper left-hand corner of the net from just outside the box to make it 2-0 exactly two minutes into the second half as he beat Derek Shaffer, who had replaced an injured Charles Warne at halftime.
The Aggies got a goal from Dylan Curtis at 53:39 on a rebound off a defender and came within inches of tying the match with 28 minutes remaining when Nicholas Lind's free kick from the top of the box hit the right post.
Fullerton got a clinching goal at 66:41 when Florian Wolff roofed a deflection off a defender from point-blank range.
Titans' goalkeeper Bobby Armstrong made the only two saves of the night.™™
