Davis, Calif. - Shay Spitz and Joshua Meyer each scored a goal as Cal State Fullerton played to a 2-2 tie in Big West Conference men's soccer action Wednesday afternoon at first-place and No. 7-ranked UC Davis.

The Titans snapped a four-match scoreless streak when Spitz scored in the first half and Meyer made it a 2-0 lead early in the second half. But the Aggies scored two goals less than five minutes apart late in the second half to force 20 minutes of overtime, which proved scoreless.

Fullerton is now 3-10-1 and 0-3-1 on the season while the nationally ranked Aggies are 11-1-2 and 3-0-2. Each bench was assessed a red card in the match.

Sophomore Miles Hadley and senior Quincy Amarikwa scored goals in the 76th and 80th minute, respectively, to tie the match and extend the Aggies' unbeaten streak to 11 games.

"I was very pleased with the play of the boys," said Fullerton Head Coach Bob Ammann. "Any time you go into the No. 7-ranked team's place and are disappointed with a tie, you know you've done some things well.

"We'll take some consolation from the fact we put ourselves in a great situation to pick up three points. And don't look too much into the shot disparity -- those box score stats are way off."

For only the second time all season, the Aggies had to overcome an early lead as Cal State Fullerton scored in the 14th minute off a scramble. Spitz came out with the ball in front of an empty box and sent it over a diving goalkeeper for his second score of the season.

Following the halftime break, the Titans put the Aggies down by two scores with another unassisted goal in the 65th minute. Meyer collected a loose ball and sent it past Aggie goalkeeper Ryan McCowan, who had come out to try to clear the ball.

With the game entering the final 15 minutes, the Aggies notched their first score at 75:23 when Amarkiwa sent a ball to Hadley in front of the net. Hadley toed it into the right corner for his third score of the season.

The equalizing strike came in the 80th minute when Amarikw notched his 13th score of the season as he headed in a cross from senior Ian Conklin.

With momentum in their favor, the Aggies continued to get shots off throughout the contest. UC Davis held a huge 27-9 shot advantage and took a total of 20 shots after the halftime break. The two teams were not too far off in shots on goal as the Aggies managed just two more, 6-4, despite the overall shot disparity. UC Davis also held a 11-5 advantage in corner kicks.

Freshman Trevor Whiddon made four saves in goal to help the Titans, while McCowan saved two. Kevin Venegas was the only Titan with multiple shots.
