Fullerton, Calif. - Sophomore Michael Farfan scored in the early going and junior Jacob Shumway added a late tally as Cal State Fullerton posted its third shutout of the young men's soccer season by a 2-0 count over Memphis in the Titan Tournament.
Fullerton is 3-0 and will face a 3-0 Michigan team in the championship game Sunday night. The Wolverines beat Cal State Northridge, 2-1, earlier on Friday.
Farfan scored from about 15 yards out off a feed from Andres Jarquin on a breakaway in the 13th minute. Shumway got his first career goal when he booted in a rebound of his own shot off Tigers' keeper Tyler Strom in the 84th minute.
Titan goalkeeper Brent Douglas logged his third personal shutout by making 7 saves.
The last time the Titans opened a season with three shutouts was 1981 and they haven't been 3-0 since 2000 when they opened with six wins.
