LAS VEGAS, Nev. – With time running down and the Titans appearing to head to overtime for the fourth time in five games, senior forward Samuel Goni scored in 85th minute to lead the team to a 1-0 victory Sunday night against UNLV.
The Titans picked up their first victory of the season to give them a 1-1-3 record through five games. Goni scored on a broken play inside the box on an assist from senior captain Ross McPhie. The goal is Goni's second of the season to go along with one assist on the year.
With the late clutch goal by Goni on a beautiful assist from McPhie, the Titans have now scored in the last twenty minutes of action in four out of their five contests, showing their grit and determination to fight back in times of adversity.
Fullerton played a well balanced game as they out-shot UNLV 13 to eight, with seven of the Titans shots ending up on goal.
The Titans defense held tight all match, giving up just eight shots with only one of them allowed on net against goalkeeper Paul-Andre Guerin, who had another stellar night in goal for Fullerton.
Goni and the rest of the team looks to keep the momentum going as they travel south to the University of San Diego for a matchup Thursday night at 7 p.m. PT.
