Men's Soccer Hits the Road to Face Cal Baptist and UNLV

FULLERTON, Calif. – The Titans hit the road for a three-game road trip beginning with Cal Baptist University on Friday afternoon before heading to the desert for a matchup with UNLV Sunday night.

QUICK HITS
• Cal State Fullerton hits the road for a three-game road trip. The Titans were 4-5-1 on the road in 2017 and are 0-0-1 so far in 2018.
• Fullerton has had two late game-tying goals in three games this season, one by Bass Sarr and the other by DJ Wilson.
• Sarr is off to a fast start in 2018, with on goal and one assist already in three games.
• The Titans have qualified for the NCAA Tournament three of the last four seasons and now look to make it four in five years.
• Head Coach George Kuntz is in his 5th season at the helm of the Titans. Cal State Fullerton is 43-34-17 under his leadership.

OPPONENT AND HISTORY
CAL BAPTIST
4 p.m. | Friday, Sept. 7 | Lancer Soccer Field
Fullerton and Cal Baptist will meet for the first time in the history of the two programs. The Lancers are 2-2 so far this year with wins over Saint Peter's and Gonzaga, while losing to Manhattan and San Diego.

This is the Lancers first year in Division I Soccer after going 17-1-2 in Division II last season before losing in the second round of the national tournament. Cal Baptist lost their leading scorer from last season, Aidan Apodaca, who scored 29 goals while adding four assist to total 62 points.

UNLV
7 p.m. | Sunday, Sept. 9 | Johann Field
The Titans will face off against the Rebels for the 36th time in history. Fullerton holds an advantage in the match up with a record of  20-13-2. The Titans are currently riding a three-game winning streak over UNLV, including a 1-0 win last year at Titan Stadium. UNLV is 3-1 on the year with wins over Florida Atlantic, Evansville and Tulsa, while losing to Oral Roberts.

LATE GAME HEROICS
Fullerton used a pair of late game heroics last week to grab two draws in three games. Bass Sarr was the first to come up clutch for the Titans as he scored in the 87th minute against Missouri State on the road to force overtime and eventually earn a 1-1 draw.  The very next game against James Madison it was freshman DJ Wilson's turn to save the Titans as he scored in the 88th minute to force overtime and eventually earn a 1-1 draw.

GONI GETS GOING
Senior forward Samuel Goni got his scoring going Sunday night against New Mexico with a spectacular goal from way outside the 18-yard box. Goni led the team in scoring last season with nine goals and 19 points.



CLOSING IN ON RECORDS
Fifth-year senior Robert Coronado returns for his final season after suffering a season-ending injury in 2017. Coronado has recorded 12 assists over three years and needs just three more assists to be tied for 10th all-time in the history of the program. Paul-Andre Guerin has recorded eight shutouts in two years, needing just three more shutouts to be ranked eighth all-time in Fullerton's record book.
