CARSON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton men's soccer team was given a one of a kind test last weekend as they took a trip to the StubHub Center to scrimmage the U.S. Men's National Team on their second day of spring training.

"It was a tremendous experience for our players to learn the technical, tactical and physical speed demand of the next level," said head coach George Kuntz. "We are grateful that our U.S. National team coach Jurgen Klinsmann spoke to our team and shared his insights."

The two teams met for a 90-minute scrimmage that included some of the MLS's top players such as Mix Diskerud, Darlington Nagbe and Jordan Morris.

The team also got the chance to watch the U.S. Men's National Team "A" play Club Tijuana, featuring former Mexican National team coach Miguel Herrera.

Titan goalkeeper and 2015 Big West Conference Tournament MVP David Rodriguez Elias explained what an honor it was to be given this opportunity.

"Playing any national team is a great experience, especially as a college athlete that wants to go on to the next level," explained Elias. "To have had only one training session and be able to compete with the national squad is a big accomplishment for each individual and this program."

"It was great to be able to play against professionals and compare the level of play," added midfielder Nicolo D'Amato. "The level of speed they played at was unbelievably fast. It really showed us what it takes to play at that level."

The Titans will continue to use this experience to build upon as they have another challenge ahead of them, playing MLS team Toronto FC on Monday night.

"Toronto FC is one of the best MLS teams and now that we got to experience the game with some pros, we are much more prepared for this spring season," said Elias.
