2016 Spring Schedule Announced, Highlighted by U.S. Men’s National Team

FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton men's soccer team announced their 2016 spring schedule on Monday afternoon after a remarkable 2015 campaign that landed them their first ever Big West South Division regular season title and their second-straight Big West Tournament Championship, landing them in the NCAA Tournament for the ninth year in history.

The Titans' will play a schedule comprised of 12 games against both professional and collegiate opponents taking place at both Titan Stadium and other sites across Southern California.

Their highlighted match is their opening contest against the United States Men's National Team on Saturday, Jan. 23 at the StubHub Center at 10:30am.

The U.S. Men's National Team is currently preparing for their 2016 season with their January training camp being held at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif.

The following weekend the Titans will host PSA Elite, an elite soccer club of the United States Adult Soccer Association at Titan Stadium at 10am before heading to Anteater Stadium at UC Irvine to take on MLS member, Toronto FC at 7pm that same night.

Later in the week on Friday, Feb. 5 the Titans will once again travel to the StubHub Center to take on LA Galaxy II at 10am, followed by hosting La Maquina, who finished in 2nd place in the Southeast Division of the UPSL, at Titan Stadium at 7pm.

After a two-week hiatus, Fullerton will return to the pitch with a doubleheader at Loyola Marymount on Sunday, Feb. 21 taking on both LMU at 1oam and Cal State Dominguez Hills at 12pm.

The Titans return back to Titan Stadium to close out the rest of their spring schedule with games on Saturday, Feb. 27 against the University of San Diego at 1pm followed by Cal Poly Pomona at 7pm.

Their last weekend of play will host the United Soccer League Western Conference Champions, the OC Blues at 10am before closing out their schedule against Mt. Sac at 7pm that same evening.

The Titans are also scheduled to play their annual alumni game on Saturday, Mar. 12 with the time TBA.

Admission to soccer spring matches at Titan Stadium will be free of charge.

After posting 10 wins in his inaugural season, head coach George Kuntz led the Titans to 13 wins in 2015, the largest number of wins since the Titans won 15 in 2000. Not only has he led them to back-to-back double-digit win seasons, Kuntz found himself with the Big West Tournament title for the second year in a row while also adding a piece of hardware as the South Division Champions.

The Titans' season closed out with a run into the NCAA Tournament for the second-straight year, finishing the season with an overall record of 13-8-1 and a Big West record of 6-3-1.

Fullerton saw seven different Titans earn All-Conference nods that will all be returning to the pitch for the 2016 season including Ricardo Covarrubias (2nd Team), Brandon West (Honorable Mention/All-Freshman), Robert Coronado (Honorable Mention), Nicolo D'Amato (Honorable Mention), Ronaldo Pineda (Honorable Mention/All-Freshman), Carlos Troncoso (Honorable Mention/All-Freshman) and the Big West Tournament MVP David Rodriguez Elias (Honorable Mention).
