Titans Settle for 8th

Mission Viejo, Calif. - Dakota Duerr shot a 7-over par 79 Tuesday but it was good enough for a tournament total of 228 strokes to top the Cal State Fullerton team which finished in eighth place at the 2011 Big West Conference Men's Golf Championships at Mission Viejo Country Club.

UC Davis shot 7 over par Tuesday to finish at 7 over 871 for the tourney and claim the team title by 17 strokes over runnerup Pacific. Following in order were Cal State Northridge, Cal Poly, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara, Long Beach State, Fullerton at 933 (69 over) and UC Riverside.

Nick Ellis' 2-over 74 was the best Titan round on Tuesday and he finished second on the team behind Duerr at 235. He was followed by Scott Rubzin (238) and Mark Anguiano and Corey Gard, both at 239. The individual champion was Austin Graham of UC Davis, who shot three rounds of 70 for a 6-under score of 210.
