Moreno Valley, Calif. - Dakota Duerr shot a 4-under par 68 in the second round for a 36-hole total of 3-over 147 to lead Cal State Fullerton to a 3-stroke win in men's golf over UC Riverside Friday and Saturday at Velano Country Club in Moreno Valley.
Duerr shot 79-68 on the par 72 course but lost individual honors by one stroke to Kevin Fitzgerald of the Highlanders, who carded a 73-73 -- 146. Jake Goliembewski was second for Fullerton at 149 followed by Scott Rubzin at 150, Nick Ellis at 152 and Darren Saqui at 154. Fullerton's team score was an 18-over 594. UCR shot 597 in the final tuneup for the Big West Conference Championships next week at Mission Viejo Country Club.
