COTO DE CAZA, Calif. – As the old George Harrison song goes, "Beware of Darkness." 36 scheduled holes of the inaugural Orange County Collegiate Classic could not be completed on Monday, but Fullerton's Derek Castillo (seven-under par / 32 holes completed) finds himself in the tentative lead. Teammate Jake Dyer (two-under par / 33 holes completed) is in tentative third place, and is nipping at Castillo's heels.
The overnight rains didn't muddy things up, but high winds did inflate some golf scores on the Coto de Caza Course, and led to some slower play.
All second round scores are incomplete, so no accurate team or individual standings can be provided because the participants haven't completed all of the same holes or even the same number of holes.
In addition to Castillo and Dyer, the other members of the Titan five-man team are Garrett Boe, Trevor McNary and Matt Rafter. Playing as individuals are Dalton Daniel, Blake Petchel and Jess Scheller.
All 92 participants will return on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. to finish their remaining second round holes, and to complete a final 18 holes. The tournament is being played at the par 72, 6986-yard South Course of the Coto de Caza Golf and Racquet Club.
