The Cal State Fullerton men's golf team returns to action to compete at the Arizona Intercollegiate as one of 16 teams participating in the two-day tournament hosted by the University of Arizona at Sewailo Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday.

Play begins at 7 a.m. PT (8 a.m. MST) on Monday for the first 36-holes, and will conclude Tuesday for the final 18-holes at 7:30 a.m. PT (8:30 a.m. MST).

THE COURSE: The two-day event will be contested at Sewailo Golf Club, playing at 7,262 yards from the tournament tees and par-71 for the 54-hole event. 

THE FIELD: Competing alongside the Titans and Wildcats will be BYU, California, Denver, Iowa State, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Santa Clara, South Dakota State, Southern Illinois, Texas, Utah, UTEP, Washington and Washington State.

FORMAT: 54-hole stroke play, 36 holes on Friday and 18 holes on Saturday, with the low four of five scores counted each round for the team total.

IN THE RANKINGS: Following the completion of the first four tournaments in the 2015-16 men's golf season, Cal State Fullerton is ranked No. 171 in the nation according to the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings, facing a field that features three teams ranked within the top-50 in this week's tournament: Texas headlines the field at No. 10, followed by No. 21 California, No. 23 Washington, No. 54 New Mexico, No. 96 UTEP, No. 98 Santa Clara, No. 100 Washington State, No. 112 Iowa State, No. 116 New Mexico State, No. 135 Utah, No. 142 Arizona, No. 144 South Dakota State, No. 161 BYU, No. 215 Denver and No. 221 Southern Illinois.

MICROSEMI CORP. NAMED SPONSOR OF FOLINO INVITATIONAL: For the third consecutive year, Microsemi will serve as the presenting sponsor of Cal State Fullerton's annual Folino Invitational to be held Feb. 15-16 at the Industry Hills Golf Club in Industry Hills, Calif.

LAST TIME OUT ON THE LINKS: The Cal State Fullerton men's golf team concluded its 2015 fall schedule with a 10th-place finish at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational played at Stockton Golf and Country Club on Saturday, Oct. 31.

In the third and final round of action, the Titans shot 297, ending the tournament with a total score of 41-over-par 893.

Sacramento State captured the Pacific Invitational championship (859; +7), followed by Long Beach State (861; +9), UC Irvine (874; +22), Pacific (882; +30) and Denver (885; +33) to round out the top five. The Titans finished just one shot back of finishing in a tie for seventh with Fresno State, Nevada and UC Riverside.

Senior Nico Mendoza finished tied for eighth as he shot an even par 71 in the third and final round to complete his tournament with a 216 (+3).

Freshman Jack Ireland rebounded with the best round of the day, one-under-par 70, in the third round, finishing the tournament tied for 23rd with a score of 221 (+8).

AT THE ARIZONA INTERCOLLEGIATE LAST SEASON: The Cal State Fullerton men's golf team completed play at the Arizona Intercollegiate in 12th place at the Sewailo Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz., on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015.

The Titans tallied a final score of 877 (+25) after firing a final round of 4-under-par 280 and second round 14-over-par 298. No. 29 Arizona State walked away with the victory logging a score of 840 (-12), wrapping up the event over 10-strokes ahead of the nearest competitor.

The Sun Devils shot a final round of 7-under-par 277 to clinch the team title. ASU was followed by UTEP (-1, 851), McNeese State (+4, 856), No. 21 California (+5, 857) and No. 43 Iowa State (+5, 857) to round out the top-five. Arizona State's Max Rottluff used a second round 6-under-par 65 and 3-under-par 68 final round to garner the individual title at 10-under-par 203. UTEP's Martin Simonsen captured second (-6, 207), while a trio of golfers in New Mexico's Gavin Green, McNeese State's Robert Macintyre and California's Shotaro Ban carded a 4-under-par 209 to tie for third, respectively.

2015-16 TAP-INS
• Fullerton's final score of 843 from the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate on Sept. 29 ranks third all-time at Cal State Fullerton for the program's 54-hole team score.
• Fullerton's third-place finish at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate in Pullman, Wash., was the best for the program since winning the Big West Championship on April 29, 2014.
• Redshirt senior Mark Jensma was the top Titan finisher, as his total score of 209 (-4) tied for ninth at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate. For Jensma, the ninth place finish was the best in his Titan career and the second time he has finished in the top-10. In addition, his second round score of 68 and his total score 209 set career bests.
• Freshman Jack Ireland led the Titans with a 15th place finish at the Southern Dunes Collegiate Invitational on Oct. 4. He was the first freshman to lead Cal State Fullerton since Mark Cobey finished as the top Titan – in 41st place overall – at the Sacramento State Intercollegiate on Mar. 10, 2015.

SEASON SCHEDULE
Cal State Fullerton's 2015-16 campaign features 10 tournaments before the Big West Championship and NCAA Regionals. The Folino Invitational will again highlight the Titans' season as the sixth-annual tournament has become one of the premier collegiate golf destinations and will be hosted at Industry Hills Golf Club in City of Industry, Calif., on Feb. 15-16. Fullerton will also hit the links outside the state of California, visiting Washington and Arizona twice.
