FULLERTON, Calif. – After concluding his career at Cal State Fullerton as the men's golf Big West Player of the Year, Mark Anguiano will hit the links at the 48th Pacific Coast Amateur Championship at the Pine Canyon Club in Flagstaff, Ariz., from July 22-25.

Most recently, Anguiano hoisted the crown at the Sahalee Players Championship (SPC) earlier this month held at the Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash. The former Titan concluded the event carding an 8-under-par 280 (71-69-69-71), winning the title by four-strokes. 

It was Anguiano's first time playing in the SPC and he's looking to make an even bigger impression at the Pacific Coast Amateur in the coming days. The Whittier, Calif., native will enter the tournament ranked No. 27 in the world according to the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) and No. 59 in the Scratch Players World Amateur Ranking (SP). 

Sitting adjacent to the picturesque Coconino National Forest on 600-plus acres of private property, the par-72, 7,272 yard Pine Canyon Club will see 87 top-ranked world amateurs compete in a 72-hole, four-day stroke play competition, for the chance to raise the Dr. Ed Updegraff trophy as champion of one of the Pacific Coast's most historic golfing events. 

Play for the 72-hole stroke play championship will begin on Tuesday, at 7 a.m. Play will conclude with the eventual champion being crowned on Friday afternoon. 

Past champions of the Pacific Coast Amateur who have gone on to successful professional careers include PGA Tour winners Billy Mayfair (1987, 1988), Jason Gore (1997) and Ben Crane (1998).
